My recollections of David go back to around 1989-onwards.
In the days before the Internet was around in it’s present form, there was Prestel and Micronet., with very slow and relatively
expensive phone connections.
A couple of chaps (one being a London tube train driver, and the other a cheese wholesaler) set up a group called
“Direct Line”. This was way before the Insurance company was around.
They would arrange meets (normally around the M25 area), where a room in a pub would be hired, and like minded people would get together and talk computers, as well as “exchanging” software. The actor Lew Lewis was often there (of “Brush strokes” and Robin Hood fame”). David Moore was usually there too, and I remember having a few chats with him about the Spitfire he flew. On one occasion he was showing us a video of him flying in formation with Norwegian F-16s. Very nice chap and sadly missed.
On one of the last meets I went to, they were selling off some of his computer gear on behalf of his wife. I still have one of
the games I bought.
