I eventually got around to watching Dunkirk this evening.
A lot has already been said about this film, but suffice to say, I thought it was very good.

The only way is to permanently monitor the tower frequency. Even then it’s not always obvious what’s coming in,
if they don’t give their aircraft type.

I recently got rid of a load of aviation related VHS tapes, to a charity shop in Rayleigh.
I do still have a VHS machine somewhere, but haven’t used it in a very long time.
I only kept one, the last Mildenhall airshow. Lots of books had to go too 🙁

What aircraft is it ?. It looks as if it’s based on a Turbo Porter ?

Thanks for posting that Bazv, Very nostalgic. When we first used to visit my parents, who lived very close to the airfield,
there was still a Meteor on the main gate.

Indeed, Messerschmitt BF-109G-6 “Black 8”, looks very nice indeed.
    A snip at £4,426,400 :stupid:

Thanks for pointing this out Denis. I was listening to Caroline when it started up back in 1964.
Then listening to Radio Northsea International until they finished. I wonder what things would
be like if we hadn’t had the pirate stations ? Would the BBC still be chugging along with the “Home Service”,
the “Third programme” and “Light programme” ? The only way of being able to listen to the then “Pop” music,
being Pick of the pops on Sunday afternnon, or Radio Luxembourg. How things have changed.

My interest in broadcast music tailed off back in the 80’s. If I listen to music at all now, it’s usually
    “Arrow Rock” on DAB.

For those yet to see it. The programme is repeated tonight (23rd Nov)

10pm BBC Four, preceeded by the story of the raid on Amiens Jail. Operation Jericho.

Many “older” people have more money to spend than the younger generation. That’s not my view, but an economic fact.
Mortgages paid off, no kids to support, reaping the rewards of private pensions, and inheriting money from parents.
Of course this doesn’t apply to all over 60’s, but it does to quite a lot.

On my previous post, I meant the concessions will still be available for normal “on the day” entrance tickets.
We will no doubt have to wait until the end of November, before we see if this will apply to the new IWM
    season tickets.
I somehow doubt it, as I would guess a high proportion of visitors would qualify (school holiday time aside). I have no particualr
problem with this, as I expect “many” retired people have a large disposable income.

They will still do concessions in 2018.
We don’t go to airshows, or use the cafes.
Last year we paid £22 each for a yearly pass which expire at the end of May, so this represents a £26 increase.
Not a lot in the scale of things, and we would probably make a point of visiting the Belfast next year.

So paying £70 this year would perhaps make sense, against £83 for three visits.

My wife an I also have the annual pass, as we only visit prior to airshows.
On our last visit in September I asked if it was to continue, and was told it was.
I no longer see it listed though ?…… I have asked for clarification.

There is one thing that annoys me. In the IWM blurb, it says if you purchase the new season ticket,
you get free entrance to various IWM sites. Really ? How can it be free if you’ve paid for it.
Unless you live in London, how many times are you going to go on the Belfast ?

I would have thought that any original shelters would have rusted away by now ?

Not the first time an Apache has had a problem at Duxford.
