There seem to be two types of people who own 4x4s.

Those who have a genuine use for them, and find them practical.

Those who think it endows a certain status, but wouldn’t dream of taking them out in icy weather.
You don’t tend to see them on the school run after it snows. Probably as few bother to fit snow tyres.

Oh yes, they also allow you to park on double yellow lines, which mere mortals wouldn’t dream of 🙂

It would show that if you do these things there is a penalty. Not sitting at home in your nice comfy house with the money you have made over the years.

Not really relevant methinks. The lawyer representing some of the victims was on the radio, he had no problem with the sentencing.

He went on to say that Hall was sentenced according to the penalties available at the time the offences were committed.

What would have been gained by putting him away for longer ?

I’ve found that often (yes not always), the speed people drive is related to the size of the car they are driving.
If that doesn’t sound too obvious) If we accept that virtually all cars on the road today are easily capable of
doing the national speed limit.

I find I drive slower now that I have gone from a 2.0L Accord to a 1.3 Civic. I rarely exceed the speed limit, and
even then only for a short period in overtaking. Dare to get in the outside lane, and it’s not long before Mr Range Rover
Sport man is on your rear bumper, wanting to show you how fast his Tonka Toy will go, if you will only get out of his way.

Coming back down the A12 yesterday evening, I don’t think I saw one 4×4 which wasn’t driving in excess of 70mph.
Both male and female drivers. The same goes for many Audi drivers.

One has to know one’s place in the automotive pecking order.
