    Define the word “listed”

    The official definition is : A building, object or structure that has been judged to be of national importance in terms of architectural or historic interest
    and included on a special register, called the List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest.

    I hope they preserve some of Debden, maybe the flying side ?
    I have many memories of going there for ATC Wing Parades, and gliding. Also seeing aircraft from the BoB film all lined up.
    My mother saw Glenn Miller play there.

    To answer the original question. I was under the impression that the B-70 was only designed to be a research aircraft.
    It also diverted Russian aircraft production into developing an interceptor to catch such an aircraft.

    Series one episode one is on catch up, narrated by Suggs they are excavating a Ju88.
    Next weeks they are digging at Duxford looking for relics of Bader and the fliers.

    It wouldn’t surprise me if he is also seen in the Sally B.

    Annoyingly I can’t find the book. I may have leant it to someone, a long time ago 🙁

    It’s called Zeppelins over Southend, written by Ken Crowe, of Southend Museum.

    There is a book on the Zeppelin raids on and around Southend. I bought mine at Southend Museum (the old red bricked on next to the station)…
    I’ll dig it out later for the title.

    I’ll have a dig through my references and see what I can find. Being an ex Southend on Sea boy, I have an interest in the local history too. I seem to remember that the results of the 110 gunner’s indiscriminate shooting were still visible in the brick gate posts of the old college building at the top of the high street. That was, until they were pulled down.

    At least some of the damage to the old Red Bricked college building which stood at Vic Circus, was caused by a Zeppelin dropping bombs during WWI. Many died when passengers
    were waiting for trains back to London, on a Sunday afternoon.

    I didn’t think it would be long before Brexit was cited as one of the reasons for Monarch’s collapse.
    The company had of course been in dire straits long before Brexit had even been thought of.

    We visited this museum a couple of months ago.
    The section on Elizabeth Garrett Anderson was very interesting.

    Not a surprise to those in the industry, this has been on the cards for some time

    According to media reports, thousands of people are stranded aboard…what utter drivel.
    BBC news had to get someone in their studio this morning to moan about their cancelled holiday.
    News reports are concentrating on those inconvenienced by losing their holidays. Both the BBC and ITV featured
    a chap was supposed to be getting married next week. He was at pains to point out that the wedding was costing £15,000.
    Most of which he will probably get back I imagine.

    Hopefully staff will find jobs soon, they are the importand people. I also assume company pensions are protected ? Although I believe
    the pension protection scheme had a 10% stake in Monarch.

    My nephew moved from Monarch engineering to Marshalls a couple of months back, although I don’t
    think the engineering side is affected.
