Alan, it was the final flight of a Merchantman / Vanguard into Brooklands. But i believe the approach road had already been closed hence the resulting outcome was nowhere near as serious.

Much is said about spotters and photographers standing right underneath the flightpath of aircraft especially near the threshold, and some of these are members of this forum and should really know better by now.!

Regarding the spotters/swivels, they often seem to think that the general rules of safety don’t apply to them.

Plane won’t be ready for some time. He reckons another year or two.
The fuselage is done from the cockpit back. The tail and fins are done and they’re working on the wings.
But the owner needs to have his house re-thatched first, so is buying parts from the States as and
when he can afford it. He’s also having a bigger workshop built to store the plane when its finished.

Well, at least she got it on the ground in one piece.

I seem to recall a very similar incident in the UK a few years back. Although in that instance,
I don’t think there were any people on the ground involved.

It might be ok, not for aircraft purists maybe ?, who would pick every detail
to pieces, but as a drama, it has possibilities.

Ah right. A coincidence, as my brother-in-law who lives in Scole, is helping a chap build an RV12.
I’m not sure if he already flies from Tibenham, but that’s where I believe this aircraft will fly from
when completed.

I can’t really answer that one, but many medals do get copied.

I was at a talk a few weeks ago, all about the VC. The chap handed one
around for us to look at. When I looked up it’s history later, I found that there
were three copies of it.

NX611 would be flown by Civilian pilots, not RAF aircrew.

There are civilian pilots current on the Lancaster ?

Vulcan XL426 was vandalised at Southend a few years ago. Luckily the
coating which had previously been applied, meant that the graffiti was easily
removed.
