“…..In July, defence secretary Philip Hammond said the UK’s future fleet of short take-off and vertical landing F-35Bs are expected to be based at RAF Marham….”

    Both of them ?

Bradley Wiggins, what an amazing athlete 😀 I was so happy that he got the gold today in the time trials!

Interesting press conference too. He certainly has strong views on the
celebrity culture endemic in the UK.

If you go into a restaurant, and give the waiter or waitress a tip, do you really expect them to declare it ?

    I certainly wouldn’t.

From a navigational point of view, it seemed to be all he needed.

It looks like Paula Radcliffe has pulled out of the Marathon.

At 38yrs old and carrying an injury, her chances of finishing were probably
less than nil. I think she has only ever finished one Olympic marathon, and
    that was in 23rd place.

It will be a shame if she has denied someone else a place, by leaving it so late ?
It won’t win her many friends.

I have this horrible feeling that certain British athletes are having too much
pressure put on them by the media.

Saying in not so many words that, they’d got Gold medals the last time, so
they should get them again this time.

I think there could be tears before bedtime. 🙁 I hope not though 😉

“……Operators, ASL of Belgium, said the pilot had to navigate on Saturday night using only charts and a compass…..”

    Is that a problem ?

I went to the sea wall at Canvey this evening, and they flew over about half a
mile to the north of where I was standing 🙁

I misjudged it ever so slightly.

There’s an awful lot of tradesmen who don’t even begin to approach the
    £77,000 VAT threshold.

I remember that going back about £35 years, my Brother in law wanted
some new sills welded onto his Triumph Spitfire. Chap who did it told him it
was £25, or £20 for cash. His full time job was working for the income tax.

Whenever I do work for people, I always leave it up to them as to how they
want to pay. Most want to pay cash. Either way it costs them the same.
