Of course we all (I hope) feel proud of what our athletes have achieved.
Although saying that, in a couple of years time, many of us will struggle to
remember the names of more than half a dozen of of our medal winners.
Then we can ask, “What apart from the medals, has the investment
brought us ?” Only a small handful of the winners will go on to profit
from their success to any great extent. Most will go back to their jobs or
college, and carry on as usual.
Will it have brought more youngsters into sport, perhaps. Mostly only for those
whose parents can afford to finance them.
I just don’t see how we will ever be able to compete with the likes of the
USA in swimming and track events. Especially when we can’t master the
task of handing over the baton in a relay race.
Very nice pictures as always. What was the occasion ?
Ah, Eastbourne Airshow
I think the Queen was wise not to attend 😉

This is a reply I had regarding the sale.
“….I am told that Russell is simply selling his ex partner’s share. He still has his more than equal share in the partnership and fully intends to carry on and finish what he has started. He is totally committed to the place…..”
Can you still get Kodachrome ? 🙂
Ouch !, they were lucky.
I know it’s easy to be wise in hindsight, but I would have thought they might have aborted the take off ?
In the new age of digital television, surely the BBC could have used another channel for Olympics coverage instead of totally disrupting its main one.
Well, apart from BBC1, BBC2 & BBC Three, there are 24 other Olympic Channels. Plus another 24 in HD.
Thank goodness for Sky News, to find out what is going on in the rest of the world.

Congratulations indeed. They reckon that these landers have around a 40%
success rate.
I hope everything is working.

In the run up to these games, the organisers have been going on about how
good these games would be for London.
It doesn’t seem to be the case so far, with hotels and restaurants not
noticing any significant increase in trade. With many saying takings are
actually down.

I don’t hate it, but the hype, the cost and the constant coverage do annoy me somewhat. So, sky plus, other channels, DVD’s and the off switch all come into use !
It is interesting to watch what other countries make of the Olympics, on their news channels.
