Is this the one ?
Is this the one ?
LF363 was briefly based at Kenley in 1951 and also appeared in the film Angels One Five that was filmed at the aerodrome.
As well as “The one that got away”
Is it necessary to get too touchy feely about this ?
It’s an engine problem, nobody has been hurt. Let’s keep a sense of
proportion. Nobody is trying to lay fault on anyone.
No personal recollections myself, but my Brother-in-Law has some amazing
anecdotes concerning Jackie Moggridge, when he was in his early days at
Southend Airport.
I’ve never liked the term Aviatrix. A pilot is a pilot, whether male of female.
Any updates on repairs ?
Great pictures as always.
The Typhoon was 35 mins from take off, to landing back at Southend.
The run & break prior to landing, woke a few residents up 🙂
Thanks for that. I was just trying to work out what it cost to host various aircraft for an airshow.
When for instance, the BBMF requested 4000 lts of AVGAS
and the 2 Typhoons 24,000 kgs of Avtur.
No hidden agendas I would like to add, just curious.

A couple of pictures from the weekend.

Ah, thanks for that. You can blame someone in ATC for giving me the wrong info 😉
the hawk had to cut it’s display short due to it’s Ram Air Turbine being deployed on it’s last monuver. It’s deployed due to the lack of air intake to the engine ie. in an engine failure.
I’m told that one of the Hawks had to go off and do a flypast today, at a funeral. Can’t get many funerals on a Sunday ?
Some years back I had an email from a chap who used to Fly Swordfish from there.
He told how it was always very windy, and if they had a strong headwind, it took a long
time to get to their mainland destination.
There have been many stories about Machrihanish over the years, fact and fiction.
I thought the show started at 2:30 on Sunday but the list posted earlier show it starts at 2pm ?
Going by Saturday, the timings were pretty accurate, and the display as per
listing. It got off to a bad start though, as the Hawk had to cut it’s display
short. Not sure why at the moment, bird strike or technical problem ?
Today they were using 06 at Southend, it’s likely that they will be using 24 on
Sunday.
Something special? :diablo:
Yes Luvvy 😀
