A terrible thing to happen. The press are making a lot of the fact that the
aircraft was cleared to descend below the hight of the nearby mountains, but
surely they have Terrain avoidance radar on all passenger aircraft nowadays ?
rotor wing aircraft with snipers on board will petrol London during the games
They’ll be hell to pay if they do 😮
You forget that the planes are funded by government, and government has bigger things to worry about that saving a few million on a plane. Importing planes exports tens of billions from the domestic economy, and ensures all future planes will result in such an import. Money circulates in an economy, so when you export it, it circulates in someone else’s economy instead! You also upset the balance of payments very significantly. An export of £10 billion or £20 billion is not going to be in isolation from the rest of the economy, and the economy will take priority every time!
I think we all appreciate that. Although I would point out that the government has no money of it’s own. It’s tax payers money.
Jobs in this country are of course important, although if aircraft were built here under licence that would partly offset any job losses. Together with ongoing maintenance.
There is of course a precedence for this in the Automobile industry.
🙂 A visit to the American war cemetery at Madingley is well worth a visit
I’ll second that.
These any good ? Feel free to use them if they are. They are from 2006

I believe that even the chat show that Simon Dee used to do, on the early
evening BBC Slot, used to get viewing figures of around 20 Million.
Nowadays there is just too much choice, and not the quality.
I can honestly say that we don’t watch any soaps, or unreality talentless
programmes.
My wife never misses the Archers though 🙂

Very nice, I’d like to also see a video
Nice set of photos.
Which would I have seen over Rayleigh at about 4:25pm west bound ?
It would probably cost an absolute fortune to even make it seaworthy, not to
mention fitting it out. Health and safety would then make you then jump
through hoops to allow public access.

Nice set of pictures. Have they all been disposed of now ?
Something they do need to sort out pretty quickly is the problems with light
aircraft flying in the vicinity of Passenger aircraft.
An Easyjet Airbus inbound from Belfast was forced to take avoiding action on
approach to 06 this afternoon. Due to light aircraft activity over the Thames,
to the extent that they had a TCAS warning. I’m told that this isn’t the first
time this has happened.
There was a Harrier used as a test rig for the Plenium chamber
experiments that was hung from a gantry.
The latest Aero***** magazine has a photo of it.
mmitch.
Yes I remember seeing that.
I found some pictures and scanned them. I make no excuses on their quality.
I was only using an Instamatic type camera, and the weather was awful. Circa 1983

Thanks 🙂
