“…..Vigilante groups set up to protect shops and homes from rioters are hampering the policing operation,
    a senior officer has warned.
Reports suggested that hundreds of people turned out overnight in parts of London, including
Enfield and Southall, to defend their property amid fears of further looting.
But Deputy Assistant Commissioner Steve Kavanagh, from the Metropolitan Police, said they
    were not helping matters…..”

No, they were trying to help themselves while the police looked on. As
others have said, you can’t blame the police for holding back. If they even
hit one of these little scum-bags in self defence, it’ll be all over the front
pages the next morning. As well as on the TV news, then there will
have to be an enquiry over the police using excessive force.
They really are in a no win situation. Perhaps they should let the police
wear “hoodies” to protect their identity

It’s only a matter of time before one of the looters gets killed, if things carry on as they are.

. A crank in an F1 engine at 20,000 rpm is under far more stress than a Merlin crank.

Then again, an F1 engine only has to last for a couple of races. 😉

Just out of interest, how many hours does a Merlin (or similar) have to do, before it’s stripped down and rebuilt ?

The free car park is no longer available to passengers. They have to use the
    station car park.
A friend found this out on Monday, when he arrived to fly out to Ireland.
So he drove straight home and got a taxi back.

His flight was then delayed an hour and three quarters due to ATC problems at London.

I’m sure someone has answered this before, but…..

What happened to the one that was at the former Southend museum ?

No problem. I only posted them here as Damyns Hall was the title of the thread, and the moderators don’t usually like too many threads on the same subject.

I’ll start another yet another thread with the same title. 😉

I appreciate the links to other sources, but I thought this would be a thread where people could post their own pictures, which perhaps have a story behind them. 😉

Kent Spitfire did a display at a show at Ibsley at 15:45 – could have been your second one?

It was also scheduled for Damyns Hall. I don’t know if it did get there or not,
as we didn’t stay to the end. The weather ended up putting a dampener on
    things.

It’s very tempting, but I don’t think the wife would approve

Just got back from Damyns Hall, put the car away, and a pair of Mustangs
flew over Rayleigh heading North. 3:40pm
I’m pretty sure they were both Mustangs anyway, they were fairly high and I
didn’t get a good sighting of the first one.
