Without trawling through all of the posts, I don’t know if this has been mentioned.
RT.com on SKY Ch.512 are showing clips of MAKS2011 on their news
broadcasts throughout the week. I just caught the tail end of an item about
the Swifts.
Out of interest, what is the composition of the grass strip at Duxford ?
Is it just hard packed grass and earth ?. Or is there more to it ?
One I’ll always remember, was from Wethersfield, back in the late 60’s.
Unfortunately I don’t have a photo.
It was on the back of a Jacket and comprised of a large Tiger’s head, and around it.
“8th Tactical Fighter Wing- Main distributors of Mig Parts- S.E.Asia”
What is the location of Picture 9 please ?
There’s a debate as to whether that is a natural rock outcrop, or man made.
With most going for natural 🙂
What a fantastic backdrop to the photos.
The lights have been seen as far south as the Essex/Suffolk borders. If you
had a good view of the horizon.

Now…. If Stobart were to buy the Golf Course, we could have 024 right 😀
….That said, I am surprised that the MoD haven’t looked at the civvy warbird world and thought maybe there are enough Spits and Hurri’s to allow them to discharge their commemorative duties….
I wonder how much they would charge for a flypast ?
I remember the TV documentary about them. That must have been a few
years ago.
I’m told there is another Open day on the 11th September.
I don’t have any details to hand, but I’m sure there’s something online.
In my day, The Queens Building was best…
Only went there once, and that must have been about 45 yrs ago. Only
aircraft I remember seeing was one of the Presidential 707s
I would have thought the police using paint ball guns would work well. The
chavs and chavettes would be more worried about getting their hoodies
stained.

“…..Vigilante groups set up to protect shops and homes from rioters are hampering the policing operation,
a senior officer has warned.
Reports suggested that hundreds of people turned out overnight in parts of London, including
Enfield and Southall, to defend their property amid fears of further looting.
But Deputy Assistant Commissioner Steve Kavanagh, from the Metropolitan Police, said they
were not helping matters…..”
No, they were trying to help themselves while the police looked on. As
others have said, you can’t blame the police for holding back. If they even
hit one of these little scum-bags in self defence, it’ll be all over the front
pages the next morning. As well as on the TV news, then there will
have to be an enquiry over the police using excessive force.
They really are in a no win situation. Perhaps they should let the police
wear “hoodies” to protect their identity
It’s only a matter of time before one of the looters gets killed, if things carry on as they are.
