Good point and also a time to remind contributers to this forum OPSEC and PERSEC should always be considered when posting.

I would hardly think that something which happened 30yrs ago, is sensitive
information. Especially when in certain circles, it’s apparently an open secret.
There’s far more “sensitive” material available elsewhere on this forum, and
indeed on the Internet in general.

I mean, we’re not talking Wikipedia here, or going behind the scenes at Menwith Hill.

If anyone here were in a position to confirm or deny this, do you really think they’d do so on an open internet forum?

I don’t see why not, it’s something which happened about 30 years ago.
At the time it would no doubt have been something known by many people,
and a story which was told to a group of us when someone gave a talk at a
club I belonged to.

I wonder how the RAF would have faired if it had Got the K model, seen as we struggle to put any reasonable fast jet squadrons up now, imagine wot it would be like with the F-111 in the RAF:eek:

I doubt that the RAF would have kept them in service for as long as the RAAF did.

Talking to one of the German F4 aircrew at Mildenhall, back in the late 90’s.
He was saying that they would have flown theirs for longer, but McDonnell would no longer supply spares.

How true that is I don’t know ?

That’s what I was wondering.

I imagine it’s those Yaks that are often to be seen flying over Hanningfield ?

The RAAF managed to keep theirs going until last December, with significant
upgrades over the years. Although I wonder if they had the hours logged that
the USAF variants had ?
I reckon the USAF could have kept them for longer, and it would have still
been a potent weapon. Today it’s all about stealth, as well as keeping aircraft
manufacturers in work.

Thank you, that seems a pretty comprehensive document.
The section on Display Flying being the most interesting. As the parts preceding that
are mostly concerned with H & S, and risk assessment.

Apart from the car park at the new station, I don’t know the other car parks
which will incur a charge. I imagine the cost of parking in the secure car park,
will be a chargeable option when booking. If it isn’t already.

At the moment they run two aircraft on Monday and Friday, and one aircraft Tues,Wed,Thurs.

At the moment those travelling to Ireland (I believe) are using the former
“Flightline” car park, by the old control tower. I imagine this will still be the
case, at least until the new terminal opens. Which will be some time yet..
