With so much information readily available, I can’t understand what the people featured in the Ch 5 program were hoping to achieve.

I can’t answer for them, but actually going out and finding an artefact, is in many ways more pleasing than
looking at a picture in a book.

As a metal detectorist myself, watched this thinking it was going to be a decent programme.
I must admit that I was pretty appalled at what I saw.

I didn’t have any prior knowledge as to the contents of the programme, but thought it might concern a group
of people, who a former member of my detecting club belongs to. He also I believe also posts on here.

He goes out to Eastern Europe with an international group, to search for, and recover the remains of Russian and
German troops from WWII. Seeing that they are properly buried and if possible identified. I think I am correct in saying that
to date, they have reburied around 15,000 troops. Artefacts are re-buried along with human remains they are associated
with. Officials are with them at all times, as well as bomb disposal people.

Whether you like his music or not doesn’t matter, you cannot deny that he has left a massive impact on popular culture in so many fields – something that modern day “artists” can’t come within a brass razoo of.

Although many of them are jumping on the ” His music influenced what I do” bandwagon.

I remember when Space Oddity first came out. It was so different from anything anyone else had done,
and has a lot of personal meaning to me.

As Charlie said, a lot of his music left me cold, but there were a few notable highlights.

Sixty Nine is no age to die, but probably about average for those in his profession, who have indulged in
the excesses of drink and drugs over the years.

Some of you may also remember that I exchanged emails with the catering manager as well. When a sign outside Joe’s,

An annual pass is still great value for money. Pay £5 extra per ticket (prices with donation) and visit as many times as
you like. The Annual Pass is not valid for Air Shows.

ISTR reading somewhere that there was a warehouse containing over 100.000 wooden aircraft propellers which required disposal, some time after WW1. This might account for why there are or were so many propeller art pieces around, from umbrella stands to chairs to clocks, at one time.

That might account for how my Mother’s father came by some. I think they were bought at a London market
some time in the 20’s (?)
I managed to get hold of one in the 70’s, which is now displayed at Stow Maries airfield.

I’m not sure what happened to the remainder. I think a relation who lived on the Isle of Wight grabbed them.

Not as far as I know, but I stand to be corrected. The fighter Meet moved away to the west country I seem to recall,
before moving back. Although I may have that wrong ?
