Scorpion,
It would be good if you could get some photos of him…
I was looking on wixs… Thats where I saw that they wont be running the engines… Shame!
As for the pm… I’m looking forward to your reply.
I understand that they’re still waiting for the engine to come back…
Antoni,
I don’t suppose you would happen to know who the people are in the photograph? My best friends grandfather flew Lancasters with 300 Sqn. Obviously it’s a VERY slim chance that he would be in the photo, but you never know… stranger things have happened!!!
I take my hat off to Irvine Aerospace. About 1 year ago, a good friend of mine was looking through his grandads old papers when he found a brown envelope from Irvine… It was the envelope that was used to send out his caterpillar. He was a gunner on a 300 (Polish) sqn Lancaster and got shot down over Germany. I told my friend to get in touch with Irvine which he duly did, and for a VERY small fee, they had their jeweler make a new badge, stamped on the inside with his grandads name.
I dont suppose anyone from Irvine will read this, but well done… And thank you.
Mark12… what is suspicious about the guy on the right? Sorry, but i dont see it.
These might be of interest… they show her landing on the same lake….
Looks to me like the 23sqn phanton on it’s way from Coningsby to Waddington… I know KDJ moved it.
Rochford,
I agree with TexanTomcat. It is a very generous offers, and regardless of weather I have a replacement panel or not, if you are happy to reunite the original panel with G-CEVL, then i would be more than happy to accept it. In return will be a trip for you in the Cornell once she’s finished!!!
It’s not a part that I’m going to need in the next week or so, but it would be good to get the panel… How’s the best way to do that?
Thank you once again.
Flanker man.. sorry, but whats SMT?
Rochford… I’m pretty sure that we have both instrument panels, but if we don’t, I might have to come begging!!!!
Old fart – I’ll sort out some photo’s for you, although the airframe isn’t easy to photograph in it’s current location… It might take a couple of weeks before I can get some… But I will post some on here soon!
Hello Ritch,
I hope these help you.
First is a photo of G-JAYI. Sorry DGH, but I already had a photo so I thought I’d save you the trouble. It doesn’t look very ‘stock’ to me…

However G-AJRE (also taken at Coventry) looks far more original

Aside from that, I haven’t forgot about taking your lad for a trip in 927… We’ll try and get it sorted this year. I was hoping to bring the Auster over for the open day at the end of last year, but I think it got canceled?
Fantastic!!!! I’ve just stumbled across this thread after trying to find some photo’s of FH768.
I was the lucky winner when this aircraft was re listed in e-bay. She’s been bought buy a group of 4 and is based in Lincolnshire. Her new registration is G-CEVL.
Does anyone have any more photographs of her from her earlier days?
Moondance, is that how she arrived in the UK? I see MerlinPete says is was hoped that she would fly here, but she looks a long way off being airworthy in that photograph!
I have to say, the quality of the work carried out by JME is outstanding… Second to none.
Bruce, I didn’t realize that you were the same ‘Bruce’ we met when we came to collect her.
Anyway, The restoration continues and with a bit of luck, and lot of hard work, she’ll be flying again in the not too distant future (relatively speaking).
I’ve just been looking on google earth… At less that 150meters from the sea, I cant think of a much worse environment for them. Does anyone know who actually owns them?
could they be made active ever again?
What do you mean by active? There is a big difference between active and airworthy, but I’m assuming that you mean airworthy. Bearing in mind that the last Airworthy ‘private’ Shackleton has just been grounded, then i think the chances of seeing one of the Paphos Shackletons flying again is slim to nil.
Could they ever be made active again… Technically yes
Will they ever be made active again… Almost certainly not… What a sad state of affairs it is 😡
Fleet, can you please check your PM’s… I’ve sent you a couple!
Many thanks
927
Where is she going to retire?
