I think it’s “My Opinion For What It’s Worth” but i may be wrong.
Aircraft are generally very difficult to get access to ,local airfields sometimes not s local.

Correct. Sorry to have confuse some folk.

Of course the real Rocket 3 was a BSA – although the Triumph T160 Trident was lovely 😀
Great to see the triumph name surviving 😀

Beat me to it. Used to ride a Super Rocket fitted with high comp heads TT carbs and racing clutch…………………………………………as a pillion rider.

M.O.F.W.I.W., back in the good ol days when I was at school, we had a forward looking woodwork teacher who got us kids to build a series of 8ft Pram dinghy’s, which we then sailed on a local creek. Boys and girls were involved in all aspects and many went on to have their own boats later in life.
The difference between that and doing the same with aircraft would be cost, not only in the vehicle itself, but in the associated airfield rates etc. The creek I mentioned came free of charge, airfield don’t. Nice idea but, a lot of financial input would be needed from the local government………….if they want to own aircraft as part of their inventory.

As member of 612 VGS the resident RAF unit at Abingdon I tend to see a different view of the show (not least because we tend to be positioned as far from the flightline as possible).

Being ex Abingdon(47Sqdn), please explain. I thought the RAF had totally abandoned a once beaut airfield.

Hmmmm, lot’s of finger pointing and biased opinions posted here. Now I not saying that what these youngster’s did is right BUT, what do we know of their back ground. The papers quote the mother as being horrified etc but, what mother wouldn’t, even if she was lying through her teeth to protect herself. It might be the case that she abused both kids all their miserable lives and they turned to each other for love and support. It’s happened before and it’ll happen again. As for getting pregnant, they might have used condoms, no one bothers to mention it one way or another. Don’t make statements unless you know all the facts, please.
BTW, to judge some one on the way they look is contemptible. You guys should be ashamed of yourselves. We can’t all be blessed with good looks, same as we can’t all have the perfect upbringing.

PS as the title suggests, this thread and it’s context is also ‘wrong on so many levels’

Great photos Mark. Thanks for posting them. Have to agree with your comment on the Spitfire color> Very insipid. Not sure I’d have left her as she was though.

    Now a question.

All those suspended aircraft…………do they get dusted? If so, how and how often? They don’t appear to be able to be lowered.

Why can I not see any of the photos? I can see just the Photobucket message that they have been moved or deleted. 🙁

    Mine have gone as well.

A marvelous collection indeed and great photos thereof for those of us who will never be able to get there in person. I’m not sure if I blinked and missed it, but where is the Spitfire? Saw the Hurricane a few times but no Spitty!! Surely they’re not biased to the Mustang……..are they.:highly_amused:

Forgotten I had this picture. This is Handley Page negative ref A36 190. The area in question is on the extreme right and is just a wide expanse of tarmac.

Not sure what that Victor is doing. It is at the wrong end to have just taken off and seems in the wrong configuration and too high and at the wrong angle to be landing. People may also be interested in that strange looking Halifax propped up on the grass.

Can’t see image so have no idea what you’re all talking about.
