Exactly that. Older engines aren’t efficient over their operating range, so inevitably they are a little rich through the range.
The F86 operated by Golden Apple is another example of this. Thankfully modern FADECs are much more intelligent and can monitor burn and deliver fuel much more efficiently.
Careful what you hope for, 8674 planes….
Yes, definitely sounds different to XL500 (Which is on YouTube).
That looks GREAT! What’s the history of this one?
Elwick, Stephen Grey IS TFC so I guess it’s down to him to decide on the collecting policy.
As mentioned on another thread, the draw down continues.
Nope to the images, but she’s at St Athen being restored to flight…
24 hours?
Plus developing time! 😉
Wow, imagine the time it’d take to get them there if you had to post them off! Pics I’ve sent to them made an appearance in the next issue…sent electronically.
Cracking Beech’s, thanks for sharing.
On a more serious note, is the starboard underwing skin just inboard of the nacelle a little rippled? A result of its last landing??
In the “Spirit of” Internet trolling, I think it looks wrong and they ought to Finnish work on this aircraft. Then we can strip the paint off the Blenheim/Bolingbrook/two Lysanders flying in close formation* and put “Britain First”.
It looks fab, well done Arco, Rhubarb, Smudge, and all the others…..
how long to rebuild a Spitfire, with all the know how around ??
Woodbridge, I was asked if I’d like to take the lead on one of the G2 Spitfires some time ago, and I asked what kind of restoration they wanted. Total authenticity wasn’t required, so that would bring the time down significantly. Besides money, you’d still need manpower though, and as a one man show (which it would have been) this would take a significant amount of time. You pays your money etc….
Especially if your dog was called Bronco….
Sorry to be pedantic Bruce but its service as a trainer was very non operational !
We have had this discussion previously LOL!!
Sorry Baz, but Bruce is correct. It was operated (and therefore operational) as a trainer. It was in store before that, ie non operational. Lets not get confused with “on Ops”, which is an activity that aeroplanes and personnel undertake to defeat an adversary.
Shame to see her go but also excited to see what she might be replaced by.
A P-47G sized space in 2 Hangar South.
There was a second seat grafted into the P-47. It took a lot of work to make it into a single seater….
