Groan, I had a bunch of kids with me that year and it was difficult to concentrate on anything, I also recall having to keep sheltering from the occasional heavy shower, that was on the saturday.
I recall a particularly stunning sequence where the P-38 had a dog fight with Black 6, I was surprised at the Lightnings agility.
It’s a bit sad to look at the list and note the aircraft that are no longer with us, it will be interesting to see how many of the others will be at Legends next month.

I thought it was 3 B-25’s and on the saturday, the A-26 arrived late but nevertheless joined in the fun before landing, and I seem to remember 9 P-51’s going the other way, or was that a different year.
Grumpy, Duke of Brabants and possibly a French or Scandinavian B-25 ? they stole the show, I must admit.

I have heard on the grapevine that a request has been made for the Liberty Belle to land at Tibenham in Norfolk during It’s visit in July. Can anyone validate this story one way or the other

Tibenham was used by B-24’s, I’ve been trying to find out whether any former B-17 bases have their runways intact, Honnington was a B-17 repair depot and Sculthorpe saw limited use, can anyone think of any others that could be safely landed on without having to remove the turkey sheds.

Found one, Alconbury, though if the runway is as bad as it is at Wethersfield, don’t try it, does anyone know of any others.

Incidentally, I’m assuming that Sally-B was the last B-17 to land at Alconbury, I’m sure it must have been at an airshow there in 1991.

My Grandkids had it on the telly the other night while we were visiting..of the dozen or so contestants on the show.. i don’t think their combined IQ would reach double figures

I think that Steve and I are in disagreement again, I doubt whether their combined IQ’s would reach single figures, you’re being too generous Steve.

I thought that the powers that be were going to knock this programme on the head because of a lack of viewers.
But no, back it comes. For starters we have the obnoxious, talentless Davina, who this woman has influence over in the media world to continue to give her work would be a revelation to find out, I won’t get libellous, but she really sums up the entire concept of the programme right from the beginning.
We heard that she was giving all this presentation stuff up to continue her acting career, what as, a shadow in Dr Who!! ( see last episode ).
Then the cast is of course totally PC, as usual, but selected for their ability to be appalling and an insult to whatever race, creed or general life form. One particular character in this case is so obnoxious that he should have been tied up in a bag at birth and thrown into a river, whatever his gender, he is an insult to the human race and any other form of life for that matter and a catalyst for creating homophobia.
For obvious reasons, my youths watch this programme, but they’ve been straying into other channels, they aren’t impressed.
You may critisize me for even attempting to watch it, but we like to sus everything out in our household.
We have a suggestion, why Australian TV is showing this rubbish is beyond me, ship the whole lot out into the Outback and leave them there, and for Christs sake keep Ray Meers away from them, but make sure he feeds Davina to the crocs, and that bloody sub human as well.
Whatever you may think of this programme, try to watch it least once, it makes you understand a bit more about the problems with the human race, me included, or would you be prepared to sell your soul for the prize money and go on there yourself, which is really what it’s all about.
‘There’s nowt as queer as folk’, and presumably those that watch them!

It’s me again, sorry, but it’s my special day, I’ve always reserved it for the old man, even when he was alive, it was the day when he finally put his life on the line. It’s good to appreciate sympathetic comments from people on this site, especially Kev 35, you really have said it all for people who care, are we the only one’s interested any more.
I’ve heard nothing on the media today about todays anniversary, however, I’ve just heard on R2, a little piece from John Sentamu, the contraversial Archbishop of York, whats he done today, a parachute jump with the Red Devils, good for him, clerics of any demonation take note, he made a tribute to the events of Normandy as well as to the current British forces and as he admitted, whether he agrees with the wars we are involved with or not, he reckons that our troops are the finest in the world, and it was his tribute to them after all.
I’m going to take a walk up to the War Memorial now, I’m sure that the park will be full of junky scum, but thats what our fathers fought for after all, the right to life in whatever form.

Post script

I just went up to the war memorial in Braintree, lovely structure in a memorial park but with the WW2 part facing the main road.
Despite the fact that it’s just yards away from the council offices, I rather got the impression that nothing would happen here today, it was full of council workers on mobile phones having a fag, they’re lucky that theres not a swastika flying over the premises.
So I went up to Sainsburies and bought some roses, even my pals up there didn’t know the significance of today, anyway I put them on the roadside part of the memorial with a note of reminder, horrible to say, but I can’t see them lasting the day, I expect some local scroat will chuck them and the note all over the road, lets hope I’m wrong. I’ll let you know.

First thing i do in the morning is look in the obituaries to see if the Mother-in-laws name is there
