One plus point, a lot of the filming is done inside ‘The Greyhound’ in Swaffham, did anyone have the wonderful experience of going in there a few years ago during the saturday morning auctions outside, one of lifes great moments. First try and work out what the auctioneer was talking about, then try and work out what the ‘Good old Boys’ were actually buying, then risk your life for a pint in the Greyhound, real sawdust on the floor, a landlord who had been sampling the contents of the optics, and the chance of a good kicking amongst the locals, and lots of low flying too, even on a saturday. Apparently sawdust on the floor of a pub contravenes ‘Health and Safety’ regs these days, give me strength, I can’t imagine any of the combatents worrying about that.

Further comment on La Coupale, not very well signposted and it was chucking it down with rain when we went and it seemed to be running down the inside of the dome, and when you stare up at that great curved expanse of concrete, you cross your fingers and hope that all of 617’s Tallboys actually exploded at the time, do we know for sure?
There was also a V1 hanging from the roof, not sure whether it was real or a mock up.
We were hoping to investigate the nearby former Luftwaffe airfield, but the weather put paid to that, anyone been there?
Incidentally, one for Mrs Moggy, the local supermarket, which is typically French, unlike the pseudo British affairs at Calais/ Bolougne, was doing a roaring trade on porno DVD’s and Viagra, it distracted my then young son from buying his chocolate goodies, we don’t want you walking round with a permanent grin on your face do we.

La Coupole is fantastic, I went there a few years ago and I highly reccommend it, a bit wierd when you go in and see those tunnels stretching off into the darkness, but a very informative display, even my ‘anti’ sister in law thought it was pretty impressive. St Omer is really worth going to as well, good, typical French hypamarket, just up the road too.

I have always wondered what the V3 site is like, not far away either, I would research and go for that rather than ‘Das Blokhause’.

Nice pics, the flowers next to the B-24 look very poignant, I wonder what the story is behind those.
Incidentally, if you look very closely at the fuselage of this a/c, you can make out years of messages carved on the sides, I’m not condoning that sort of thing but some of them date back to the 1940’s and are as unique as the airframe itself. How long was it displayed at it’s previous home across the pond.

One thing I’ve never understood is how the people from the North and South formed a line, but were able to get on with their differences after the Civil War, or did they.
Westerns gloss it over, the man in the grey uniform always made a heroic contribution and everything was OK in the end, but probably in real terms, it wasn’t so.
I’m not an expert in such matters, but I bet that there is still ‘Trouble in them there hills’.

Yes, Robins are aggressive little b##### aren’t they.
There was a magic moment last week, our Jack Russell went chasing our resident rat into the bike shed, meanwhile a Robin landed on one of our ground solar lights just outside.
When Scooby emerged, the 2 of them had a stand off just a couple of feet apart, I was trying to turn on the camera as they stared each other out, who won, the Robin of course, he never flinched, bloody fearless dog did though.
Observations haven’t been good so far, non of our rare species want to show up, however, I did count 17 alledgedly rare house sparrows at one sitting yesterday.
I reckon that, because of the publicity, everyone has topped up their bird tables and the birds are spoiled for choice.
Interestingly enough, while taking the dogs out for a walk yesterday, I came across a bloke and his son hiding in the bushes watching a Heron, only it was a plastic one by someones pond, they took a bit of persuading that it wasn’t real, I told them about the birdwatch, ‘Havent you seen the publicity on TV’.
‘No, we only watch ‘Ceebebies’, give me strength, but they went on their way with the RSPB website on their minds.
Nothing to report while writing this, they are all asleep.

£3:50 up at our local chip oil in town and they are out of this world, the cod is cooked and battered to perfection and won’t fit on yer plate, and the amount of perfectly formed and cooked chips usually requires a second plate.

We can get Russian caviar sent over from Hungary for next to nothing, go on holiday to Cornwall and buy a nice freshly cooked lobster from Port Isaac for a tenner, or if you live round here, go to that ‘posh’ shop just outside Colchester and buy a huge, freshly cooked Cromer lobster for £25 or a massive dressed crab thats out of this world for a fiver, and a decent Rothschild white from the local Sainsburies for less than a tenner too.
And as for the cheeses, well, the skies the limit for bog all.

It makes you puke to think that people exist who are prepared to spend this amount of money on promoting their egos.

Yes, we spotted this yesterday and wondered how he’d ended up in Zimbabwe, though, thinking about it, Hoogstraten and Mugabe deserve each other.
I bet this came about because the bribes to that nice Mr Mugabe were’nt big enough, I hope Mugabe’s Gestapo kick the s### out of him, evil scum bag.

I’ve found a beautiful cottage in the UK, literally set in sand dunes, on the beach, but I’m not telling you where till I’ve booked it, as my missus wants to go to Greece this year, she hates the hot sun so I can’t work it out, ****** all that airport crap, we can even take the dogs to this place, she’s mental if she doesn’t go for it, long discussions will be on the agenda today.

Did anyone collect the Brittains cowboy figures.
They were fantastic, Cowboys, Indians, Cavalry and Confederates, the latter on horseback.
All are made in the UK and no doubt hand painted.
My son was the right age when I was able to collect them, I built a typical Western fort and we had endless battles, supplemented by some amazing plastic Union/Confederate figures that I bought and hand painted myself. I’ve got the complete set in the loft, presumably they aren’t made any more, not PC as usual, what would ‘Evil Bay’ make of that.
