Good for large scale conventional war like WWII. Almost useless for guerilla type conflict like most todays wars.
US would be able to seemingly win the war over Iran within days. But just like in Iraq, they would soon discover that they haven’t really won much.
In case of a confrontation in and over Iran, I don’t think we’ll be looking at a large-scale invasion using conventional land forces. What about the use of air power, SOF and whatever is needed to take out some targets necessary to do enough damage?
I won’t make any predictions. I know I’m not qualified for that. I’m not familiar with all the variables and potentials involved, what events a war might trigger elsewhere, how A will affect B and to which degree, how long it will take etc. For example, how much will the U.S. restrain itself in order to minimize civilian casualties, and how will that affect the progress? Think about ALLIED FORCE back in 1999. Not much for a comparison, maybe, but I still think it’s very important to keep your feet on the ground and your head out of the clouds.
I’ll leave this stuff to the brass and suits and whoever may be qualified. And of course, to those who enjoy speculating and arguing up, down and sideways about this and that. 🙂
Why Indians??
I’m a bit confused about his life before he moved to England. I was thinking about his time in India, but after bothering to use Wikipedia I learned about Zanzibar just now..

I’m far from “Overconfident” but I will say this if I was planning this type of an attack it would be a total all out one time hit to take everything of theirs out and I do mean everything.
You’re suggesting an attack using nuclear weapons?

Right, then. Care to reveal the winning numbers for the weekend’s lotto?
I Want It All by Queen.
Another reason for you Brits (and Indians?) to be proud! 🙂

Yes Viper allot of folks like to debate but this thread is a joke first you and I know that there would never be an Air War over Iran why because the US Air Power would destroy the Iran Air Defensive and Air Force before they knew the Auto plate of the Semi that ran them over.
I think it’s possible to achieve a lot with proper use of American air power, but again you seem very confident about things. Are you sure that you know your stuff that good?
In the event of a military confrontation between the U.S. and Iran:
Would U.S. forces be able to achieve the majority of their military goals sooner or later?
I believe so.
Would it happen in an “easy and instant” fashion so to speak, virtually denying any Iranian military action against U.S. forces?
I think it would be unwise to be confident about this. I would be surprised if the Americans were that effective. We’re talking about a conventional war here.
Overconfidence in itself can be one hell of a trap. No need to step in it, especially during a war.
Folks here like I said are very funny and allot of them are full of Doggie poo and really don’t have an idea what they are talking about. Am I saying I do no but I know when not to make stupid comments hows that for you.:D
Again, you seem to be quite sure about this. As you say, you “really don’t have an idea what they’re talking about.” So why this about “doggie poo” and not making “stupid comments”?
I’d say you’re tip toing close to the wrong side of the line yourself.
On a different note: I suggest you try to learn more about proper comma use. I just got an acute case of commaphilia from reading your post. I’m not kicking you in the face. Just trying to be constructive.
Here, have a look:
Scorpion89, surely you must have noticed that some people around here love to speculate and argue about things in a very confident manner. I guess it’s easy to get into it when you’re engaged in a debate. A little heat, annoying claims and arguments coming at you, a little “I’m right and you’re wrong”-attitude, the need to “win” whatever it takes..
You seem confident yourself. I’m not saying that it’s wrong or that I’ve been much better myself, though.. 🙂
Which MiG-29 model does Sudan operate?
Any idea on what the announcer is saying?
The Ka-50 and Ka-52 are capable of using unguided bombs, AFAIK.
