Looking forward to it. Interesting that mainstream BBC didn’t feature the Dornier in any documentary strand.
Hurricane into Northolt
Hurricane short display and land 17.43 at Northolt. Not sure which Hurricane it was.
The only thing wrong with the video is……there should be another Mossie with 114 in formation ! No….make that TEN more. Absolutely enthralling. What historic aviation is all about.
Greetings all !
A few questions re intended deployment of these Spitfires if they had been flown in theatre ….
Which squadrons were in line to use them ?
Why weren’t they sold/given to the Indian Air Force ?
Why weren’t they brought home ?
Thanks in Anticipation

Very sad to hear this. Blue Skies Sir and thankyou.
Interesting to see the shot of the Mitsubishi Nell succumbing to piles of volcanic ash.
Looks as though I’m right. The Goodwin Dornier is not alone.

This is a wonderful story. Congratulations and well done to all concerned, puts me in mind of a couple of air to air sorties I did from Cambridge with R4118 a few years ago. Marvellous and unforgettable.
Come on chaps. Any info at all please ?
What were the markings on the 262’s ? Oh yes….yellow tails.
Not really sold on the CGI. Looks cartoonish.
I think The One That Got Away is ripe for a remake…two active Emils in the USA to provide fresh footage, trailer out the Duxford Emil onto the airfield, create a scene around the airframe for a days filming of the capture of Von Werra, two or three shots for a sequence, then safely back in the hangar…
There may be a lack of aviation related programming on TV but in the past year or so a wealth of material has appeared on the internet that can be easily enjoyed, with the likes of Pathe and Movietone allowing us to view their archives on their websites. I’ve seen incredible footage in cut and uncut form that either wouldn’t make it into a programme or be cut to fit into a longer film.
I put ‘Heinkel’ into the search box on Pathe and found gun camera footage of Mistel combination aircraft being destroyed in mid air. I put ‘Heinkel Berlin’ into the same box and found the press debut of the Heinkel 70. One drawback of these sites is that the cataloguing of the material is not done by someone who knows their aircraft…hence finding JU88 Mistel aircraft when I should be seeing Heinkel types. But there is a wealth of stuff we can all view. At the moment.
The Syrians still have some of them. Used as airfield decoys, they can be seen on Google Earth. Sorry can’t remember the coordinates.
Bruce, there HAS to be a book about this…something along the lines of Russ Snadden’s epic about Black Six. There should be a Haynes manual on the 190…much more interesting than the 109 !
