I remember helping to move a poorly MK732 at Fighter Meet ’95. Great to see her up where she belongs !
If they’re thinking of flying the 190 to Pembrey for a certain anniversary it’ll be interned !
Lots of substantial Brigand parts deep in the malaysian jungle. Time to rescue them before the Scrappie does….
Latest reports tail fell off when brought ashore. Notice fuselage is not externally reinforced for the lift unlike the FW190A3 salvage a couple of years ago which made it ashore in one piece.
Reports of a fifth columnist active at the Vickers plant at Broughton in 1940 somewhere ?
The location looks coastal so a salt water recovery I presume ? Looks to be in better shape than the Skua lifted some time ago. Where’s the Skua gone by the way ?
Shame the Luftwaffe didn’t deploy any Dornier landplanes to Norway….we’d be pulling them out of freshwater fjords. Wonder why they didn’t deploy any Dornier 17s up north ? Or did they ? Talking of Norway if all goes well we should have another 109 to admire soon http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/images/smilies/smile.gif
The Mossie deserves a film all to herself. I can remember seeing a few over the years. One of the best is the film made by de Havilland themselves during the war, so proud were they of their achievement. Can’t remember the title though….
Cracking shots. Well done and thanks for sharing !
Gentlemen
Thankyou all. I shall continue to watch Catalina arrivals and departures with interest !
By the way who’s doing the artwork for the new Airfix kits? Has anyone seen the stunning new box for the new Battle of Britain Bf 110 ? Stunning !
Roy Cross
Koike Shigeo
Stan Stokes
and whoever did the paintings for the Ladybird Book of Aeroplanes
cos they’re to blame for getting me interested in the subject !
Must admit to being fascinated by the entire concept of the Flug Werk 190’s. Have they found a digital version of the Kommandogerat analogue brainbox to use in the airframes ? I remember a conversation I had with Len Thorne years ago when he described flying captured FW190 A8 PE882 on approach to Wittering when the Kommandogerat went haywire. It was the most frightening experience he ever had during his flying career and insisted the aeroplane be grounded after landing safely.
Blue Skies, Len
Am I right in thinking its the custom to enter aeroplanes from the port side due to cavalry mounting horses from the left side, since the sword/cutlass was worn on the left ?
There’s a plastic Spitfire at Northolt already. Visible from the A40 in front of the Civil Terminal.
