Looking carefoully, it seems that the Madagascar Mig-17 are ex-nordkorean machines. Note the remains of the roundel in the fuselaje.
Hey Cy-24Driver1 thanks for the Sudanese Mig-29SE photo. ยกGreat find!.

Great info on the Abkhazian AF, what’s the story behind a MiG-25 defecting from Armenia? Regarding the Syrian AF, yep I forgot to add those types. There are however quite good pics of a MiG-23s that defected to Israel and also some (even if very bad) pics of their Fishbeds
Hmm regarding Sandinist MiGs, there is a guy on acig who flew C-130s and he reported that a crew of a electronic reconaissance C-130 was intercepted by a MiG-21 in full Sandinista markings. There is the official version of the Sandinista AF: Mi-24s, two T-33s, Libyan SF-260s, Libyan L-39s impounded in Brazil etc. But I believe there is way more to discover. For example there are reports about a Sandinista Mustang and then there is that pic of wrecked MiG-17s in Cuba wearing exactly the same disruptive camouflage as Sandinista T-33s. The DAAFAR only started to apply their own camouflages when Floggers arrived and at that time all MiG-17s were already phased out.
I commited an error sorry. On 20-11-1992 an Azeri Mig-25P, unarmed and coded “04” red, defected and landed in Armenia at Gyumri. Photo here, aprox in the middle of the page:

How about a list of fighter jets that remain totally elusive til this day? (ie not a single pic has surfaced yet)
Zimbabwe MiG-23
Namibian MiG-23
Sudanese F-7
Tanzanian F-7
Angolan G.-91
Angolan F-84
Angolan Su-24s (satellite photographs don’t count)
Zambian F-6s,
Iranian F-6s,
Guinean MiG-21
Sudanese MiG-25s
Yemeni MiG-17s
North Korean Su-25s
Turkmen MiG-25s
Syrian Su-27s (i.e. that demonstrator aircraft in fake Syrian markings)And a few aircraft that might exist or might have existed:
Equatorial Guinean MiG-17s
Zambian MiG-23s,
that strange Burundian thing
Sandinist MiG-21s (allegedly some deployed by Cuba, although for only a very short period of time)
Abkhazian Su-24s (unlikely)
Abkhazian MiG-23s (unlikely)
all those EX Soviet MiG-21s although, if you ask me most never flew in the markings of the new nations.
Sandinist Mig-21 never existed. The famous photo of SMP showing an airport with parking area for fighters, was in fact for L-39 trainers. These also, never arrived.
Abkhazian Mig-23 carried soviet red stars, like the sole Mig-25 defected from Armenia.
The whole fleet of the Syrian air Force was never seen on public. Any photo of Mig-21, -23, -25, -29, Su-24? (Satellite excluded).

Nice page. Thank you again googeler ๐

These are really great images, do you have any more? Do you have a location for these images?
As for the “theets” I am at a loss. US helos have attachments on the tail boom for a HF antenna, perhaps the infantry that was being transported used these as ruck-sack attaching points so more troops could be inside. I am told that 30-troops were on each Hip during the Sinai heli-borne assaults.
By the moment no more images sorry.
On my archive i have two pics of a “strange” Mi-8 destroyed “in the sinai”. Note the strange “theets” on the tail wreck. I never see this in another Mi-8.
Perhaps shoot down by Phantoms as you comment before, perhaps no. More info about this particular helo welcomed.
Regards from Spain.
Thanks for the help ha27. Interesting pics Cy24driver1. The afghan Mig-17 are very good also. I think that these “Frescos” where photographed on the delivery date (17-08-1979). Note no serials on the nose.
