That picture is ripe for a caption competition – but be careful, you could end up in the Tower……
With apologies to Tim,
“At least with grass airfields we couldn’t come off the runway”
Interesting to see the A6M – is the ex-ATAIU-SEAC cockpit section still there or is it at Duxford/in storage?
was he the Tim who used to be a member of Sheffield IPMS in the days when it met on West Street?
He was a member of IPMS Sheffield – still lived in Sheffield as well I beleive.
Nothing sinister about the names, Tim had a change in personal circumstances and changed his surname, that’s all.
Thanks for posting this.
I am sure many here will miss him.
Moggy
I knew Tim posted as Chox, didn’t know he was WH904.
RIP
I infer from much of what is posted here that there is considerable disagreement over whether it is a heritage asset or not.
Whether we like it or not money talks. There have been many arguments over the years about great works of art leaving our shores to the highest bidder. At least XH558 is staying here!!;)
A heritage asset? Possibly, as a flyer, XH558 is unique. Grounded, she’s one of several.
So glad they are restoring the hampden properly rather than the stange half restored/half left as is that was proposed originally
Long range 109 recce aircraft certainly operated over Scotland from Norway
maybe there is a conspiracy

Please don’t linger
We all saw a great display. Don’t spoil it. The CAA read this forum and what you and others say can be used as reason to tame the airshow displays even further.
Ah, so we’re back to the Bruntingthorpe Victor hop “Shhhh, we know and we’re not saying’
There is a very good book on the 247D
What I’ve seen posted on Youtube, it certainly looks like it was rolled over Grantham…..!*!*!*!*!
Any links?
Usually does wingovers which can look like a roll
Looking good, must pop down, think it’s 20 years since I last visited
As some are in museums
The XV aircraft pictured has already gone to the RTP programme at Leeming
They’ve operated on the military register for many years, so something must have changed. Could it be that their test pilot didn’t have a civillian licence?
Would this not be a case for trading standards?
Off the top of my head, I can’t think on anything that would make it so. If you bought it sight unseen, you could probably retrun it as not of satisfactory quality (or as described)
