Both 4th and 5th on the same day?!?
No detailed info yet!
FOURTH AND FIFTH PROTOTYPES DID THEIR FIRST FLIGHTS AT KOMSOMOLSK-ON-AMUR!
Moscow. 01.04.2012. ITAR-TASS reported. -Today, the airfield of Komsomolsk-on-Amur Aircraft proizvodstvennnogo association made its first flight on the fourth and fifth flight instances of fifth generation fighter aircraft, developed by the PAK FA program. Aircraft flown by the pilots and the Hero of Russia S.Bogdan T.Artsebarsky. During the flight had been achieved a record for an aircraft of this type of height and speed.
Show must go on 😀
There could be many other troubles.
What if the display will malfunction or a contact will burn out? Or the pilot would have smashed the screen accidentally?
There are many safety standarts for military devices so i don’t think they live such problems, i think its mostly about the immaturity of the technology!
I think a single piece display is dangerous for a cockpit in that if it got broken the pilot would essentially lose all the graphic information.
Multiple displays can provide some level of redundancy.
Yes such as if the pilot get injured from the right hand, how will the pilot command the aircraft, but in my opinion if an pilot injures in an aircraft it doesn’t take such minor wounds and if an MFD of the aircraft broken because of an air strike, you can’t go home safely again as well 😉
Su-35 is new plane not a modernization.
Su-35 is a deep modernisation of the Su-27 with new generation materials and technologies. Not a new aircraft, they still shares the same great aerodynamics. Ok it has a new engine, probably its the most expensive part of the modernisation.
Single piece large russian/belarussian touchscreen MFDs were shown at the last MILEX show in Minsk. Russian or American doesn’t matter. All these screens are made in Taiwan 🙂
Your summary tells the reality as well 🙂 I found this picture at an indian forum, says first pics of “Super 30” upgraded MKI cockpit, courtesy Irkut at WAFF.

All touch screen, large displays,Giant touch panel on the right side.
Su-27SM3 has latest mulitmillion dollar engines, communication, navigation sytem, EW with latest avioncis. so ur assuming they cannot spend few million on radar antenna if they are not able to upgrade the old radar to suitable capability.

The weapons suites and avionics on these fighters are far more advanced than those on upgraded Su-27SM fighters, and the radar has also been upgraded. These aircraft also have new glass cockpits and the ability to fire the new medium-range RVV-SD air-to-air missiles.
Its not a big modernisation, only a well balanced upgrade with modern MFD’s but not one piece! and upgraded radar with more modes and ability to fire new missiles. Su-35 is the real modernisation, its mentioned lots of times. I didn’t see any Russian one piece MFD yet, as far as i know the whole Russian fighters today has two or three piece MFD’s in cockpit but hope we can see something new at Maks-2013:rolleyes:
Perhaps the 51 and 53 could get some work(re-design) on its W-bay doors for further trials, like weapons launch trials.. or is this too early for Pak-Fa?
For many times I remember Mr. Pogosyan decared that the first prorotypes are not designed for the weapons trials. But according the Mr. Zelin the prototype which is collected in the factory is combat capable, so probably state tests may be conducted with this bird 😉
Latest news about the T-50 comes from the Mr. Zelin;
http://nvo.ng.ru/realty/2012-03-16/1_zelin.html
On the nature of the development work, there have found some technical poblems but development work goes acording the schedule with 60 aircraft ordered for the service up to 2020. And one combat capable T-50 is built at Komsomolsk on Amur is probably ready for the state acceptance tests.
what is the suprise?
RIP. to the pilots and hope the reason comes out in a short time.
Well, i think Flateric mentioned first time he brought the “real surprise” up , that it’s not T-50.
PS: I just looked at his posts back and he said it’s not 50-3 nor 50-4, specifically. Hmmm.I was thinking then it has to be that UCAV that was suposed to fly in 2011.
It is i guess a possibility that this surprise might have to do with T-50 afterall (something Sukhoi worked on privately, an export single or two seater brought early in the game to aggresively market/present it abroad? That would be quite jawdropping if true)
Still i think this surprise it’s the UCAV , with a small chance of a T-50 derivative, and an even smaller chance of something else.
Maybe its an unmanned T-50 😉
Rest In Peace.
And maybe we can write some scenarious;
T 50-4 would fly before 2012
The so called “suprise” would fly before 2012 too,
T 50-4 didn’t fly yet
The so called “suprise” didn’t fly too,
So in my opinion there is a connection between the T 50-4 and the so called “suprise” and the so called “suprise” should be a T-50 variant. Hope in the nearest time the show starts again and the new bird displays some unique capabilities (as flateric called real show will start before 2012!):cool:
Seems 52 flew today:

What a suprise :diablo: Total 365×2+30=760+ days and 130+ flights with 3!!! flying or flight capable prototypes…:rolleyes:
