    No way.
While the Yak-130 is a great Adv trainer. It lacks all the requirements for a CAS role jet.
There are not that many hard points the jet are too small.
Add any armour and it gets too heavy for its thrust and range..

    No sir.
I’ll bet they will go through with an evolution of the Su-25.
Its the safest, fastest, cheapest and smartest way to go.

They probably will make it a more wing/body blended airframe and work from there. So they can put hard points under the airframe as well on the wings. More thrust, longer range, better sensors etc.

    Just my 2 cent.

At some of the news writes that the new aircraft will be a facelifted version of the Su-25 with new radar, navigation and other systems but he mentioned a new aircraft and its probably the Yak-130 with its new design and modern technologies which has more prospects for the future developments. Yak-133 version has already similar capabilities with the Su-25 and probably Yakovlev designers untill 2020 will prepare the bird on the light of the Su-25 developments for the close support/attack mission with more powerful engines, strong armour and some stealthy solutions 😉

all was said that E-721 was a ‘development of 1.44/1.42 ideas’. after J-20 appeared, some ex-MiG workers said it looks in line of post 1.42 studies made by another new design team in early 00s (poor bird has changed two or three chief designers in her history)

Hope in the coming years the destiny of the MİG Corp. changes and we can see a new legendary MİG-XX too…

Im sure that after an modernisation at production facilities, Mig corp. still has the all necessary technological base for creating the world’s best fighters…

PAK FA was intended to be somewhat in the middle of F-22A/F-35 class – cheaper, more affordable flying compromise- even with extreme STOL ability at the earliest stage (Yakovlev would be merging efforts with winning contender, , playing as sub-contractor, but stepped out of game in 2005 when overdue STOL requirements became less stringent with its expertise), that has grown closer to F-22 during design stage
LMFS – lightweight single-(preferable design concept) or two engine fighter, Indian AMCA can be an example of such proposal
both Sukhoi and MiG have plenty LMFS-class projects under the sleeve, but now LMFS is no more

Thanks for the precious infos flateric, everything is more clear now 🙂

    alternative one of course

And the only alternative T-50 is the Sukhoi engineer’s independent 2005 proposal, is it right? Does Mikoyan LMFS an alternative for the T-50 and isn’t it the latest proposal?

Hi, these abilities compared to Boeing’s NGAD/F-X…they refers to the “current T-50” or to the “alternative PAK FA”?

    Regards

Last project should be the rejected alternative Sukhoi T-50 or the latest Mikoyan LMFS proposal…

And I wonder does all manufacturers has the heavy 5th gen. fighter concepts or someone develops the lightweight 5th gen fighter? As far as I understand all proposals are at the same class

As far as I remember Mig corporation workers has written a letter to the President Mr. Medvedev and P.M. Mr. Putin about the unfair competition at aircraft tenders, their small wages and some mismanagement of the company by the transferred executives. So without the goverment support other manufacturers lose their competitiveness with time and all tenders goes one company.

Probably after the PAK-FA program also the other manufacturers will be supported but as long as that time they need to preserve their skills with joint projects.

Russia Must Build Two Variants of 5G Fighter – Rogozin

Russian aircraft manufacturers must develop at least two competitive prototypes of a fifth-generation fighter jet, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said on Thursday.

“Two variants of the future fighter jet must be developed to encourage competition,” Rogozin said at a meeting with Russian lawmakers.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the future fighter must possess all technical characteristics of a fifth-generation fighter, including elements of stealth technology, supersonic cruising speed, highly-integrated avionics, electronics and fire-control systems.

The existing T-50 prototype, developed under the program PAK FA (Future Aviation System for Tactical Air Force) at the Sukhoi aircraft design bureau, made its maiden flight in Russia’s Far East in January 2010 and made its first public appearance at the MAKS-2011 air show near Moscow on August 17, 2011.

There are currently three fifth-generation T-50 fighters in tests, and a total number of 14 aircraft is planned for test flights by 2015.

The T-50 is expected to enter service in 2016 and gradually replace MiG-29 Fulcrum and Su-27 Flanker fighter jets in the Russian Air Force.

It should be a wishful thinking if there hasn’t allocated additional funding

I wonder if RD-33MK has the 5th generation engine characteristics with advanced materials, supercruise, infrared visibility, specific fuel consumption, or is it an marketing strategy to represent it as an fifth gen. engine of the Klimov? And any info about the progress of the Klimov company about the future gen. aircraft engine ?

Italy has offered Turkey partnership in creating a fighter

Italy has offered the Ministry of Defence of Turkey to participate in the creation of a national fighter, according to Hurriet Daily News. “We want to participate in the development of the Turkish fighter. Turkey is evaluating the feasibility of such a project, but we already have a proposal,” – said the Italian Ambassador to Turkey Gianpaolo Skarante (Gianpaolo Scarante).

The Italian party intends to offer the Turkish military authorities a number of technologies used in fighter aircraft Eurofighter Typhoon. According Skarante, since both Italy and Turkey have begun to build up the military-technical cooperation with the Italian side have the desire to convey to Turkish companies as much as possible technologies that delocalize production and raise the level of industrial countries.

Italy is one of the major participants in the project development and production of fighter Typhoon (the others being Britain, Spain and Germany). Aircraft engaged in the production of a European consortium Eurofighter, the share of the Italian company Alenia Aeronautica which is 21 percent.

In December 2010, Turkey announced that it intends to own a multi-role fighter with stealth technology. The development of the project, the designation TFX, the company is engaged in Turkish Aerospace Industries. Agreement for the official start of the program was signed in August 2011. TAI is planning to deploy a full-scale production of TFX in early 2020.

Italy wants to build first Turkish fighter jet plane

Italy has presented a proposal to Turkey in creating the country’s first fighter jet including technology transfer and establish local production, Italian Ambassador to Turkey Gianpaolo Scarente said.

Italy has given a proposal to Turkey to build the first Turkish national fighter jet in the country, according to Italian Ambassador to Turkey Gianpaolo Scarante.

“There is a proposal for a project. We would like to participate in a very important program to create a national fighter for Turkey. It is in the phase of evaluation of the studies right now, but we have the proposal,” Scarante told the Hürriyet Daily News in a recent interview at the Venice Palace in Istanbul.

“The most important fighter in the world now is Eurofighter system. We would like to share with Turkey in order to cooperate to realize this important aim to have a national Turkish jet,” he said
Scarante said since beginning cooperation with Turkey, Italy has decided to transfer technology to Turkey and delocalize the production in order to bring the industrial capability to the country.

‘We want to share our technology’

“Our attitude is to cooperate in technology transfer in order to establish an industrial cooperation. So we do not only want to sell products, objects, systems, etc., but also to share technology and build together in order to improve the technology and the capability in the country,” he said.

Scarante said this was proved with the production of the attack helicopter Agusta in Turkey.

“Now Agusta is being built in Turkey; so if Italy wants to buy an attack helicopter, we need to buy it from Turkey,” he added.

Italian Defense Minister to visit Turkey

Sacarante said Italian Minister of Defense Giampaolo Di Paola will be visiting Turkey in two weeks time. Italy and Turkey held “defense industry days” in Italian capital Rome from Jan. 26 to 28, where Italian and Turkish companies discussed business opportunities in meetings held in the Center for High Defense Studies (CASD).

More than 30 Italian companies including Finmeccanica and leading Turkish companies such as Aselsan, TAI, Roketsan and Havelsan attended the meetings. Sacarante said the aim of the “Italy-Turkey defense days” was to support the cooperation between the two countries in the field of defense.
    [HH] Long history of cooperation

“There are a lot of cooperation projects in the defense sector between Italy and Turkey. We have a very long history of cooperation. For the time being, we have a very good cooperation in satellite industry,” he said. Cooperation extended to air traffic control systems and the main control system control was being built in Ankara, he added.

Italy and Turkey have the same vision of the problems regarding the Arab spring countries, he said.
“Italian Foreign Minister Giulio Terzi di Sant’Agata made his first foreign visit to Turkey just 15 days after he was appointed, and is constantly in contact with Davutoğlu regarding the developments in the region.”

Italy also has close contact with Turkey for evaluation of the situation in Syria day by day and “creation of a buffer zone is also being discussed between allies,” Sacarante said.

“We have to have a stable, democratic Syria and stop the violence there. We’re in favor of all the measures that can lead to consensus on the Syrian issue.”

Speaking of secret things, anything new on that surprise we’re suposed to see this year ? What is it ?

(LMFS going well and waiting for first flight …WHAT ???! that would be some suprise if true…)

If its true, it can also be a development program of the Sukhoi with its own resources with sharing common parts from the PAK-FA… Cheap and more affordable aircraft for both RuAF and the export market
