There is no better stout or indeed beer than Guinness. It is always my drink of choice St Patrick’s or not, I am just glad of the company in drinking it that only comes one day a year!

    EGPH.

“So I respect these men for having the bravery to stare the British army down when it needed done. I also honestly do not condone violence now due to there being a democratic parliament in place when Sinn Fein are working, though I strongly disagree with decommissioning of arms beyond use, that has already worked against Catholics in Northern Ireland in 1969 when Protestants attacked Catholics whilst the IRA had to look on unarmed.”

“My problem is that I live in a country whose government tortures people. That is really bad and must end! Or else…cue the IRA argument!!”

Feel free to move. I doubt there would be many here encouraging you to stay.

    Regards,

    kev35

The second example was not really talking about the future it was talking about in general what CAN be done when a state gets out of control

In the first example I was clearly referring to the use of armed struggle in self defence and struggle to see how that could be called terrorism, if people are being burned out of their homes by Protestants and the British army are doing nothing about it then cue the IRA in self defence, if the british army come and help then good on them 🙂

Of course it affects your argument. In the attacks I listed above, the IRA (under any and all guises) managed to kill 34 members of the British Army, Police and Judiciary whilst injuring 24 more. Listed in those same attacks are 45 civilian dead and 932 wounded. Clearly, the leadership of the IRA had lost control of their membership if you only consider the armed forces to be legitimate targets. Does Gerry Adams hold and espouse the same sentiment toward civilian casualties of the IRA as he does over Massereene? You then state you do not necessarily condone the Massereene shootings. Is there an implication there that you don’t ‘necessarily’ think they were wrong either?

You then go on to employ the tactic of avoidance. We are not discussing South African politics or the war in Afghanistan. What is being debated is the simple fact that IRA terrorists and IRA sympathisers are now elected to High Office in Northern Ireland leaving a trail of death and misery behind them. They are hiding behind a facade of respectability. It is a thin facade too. Politicians in mainland UK have been forced to resign for the falsification of documents and for overclaiming their expenses. Whereas in Northern Ireland, those who have conspired to cause explosions and have been convicted of attempted murder are absolved of all legal responsibility for their crimes (and no doubt have received spiritual absolution from their Church) and now lead supposedly respectable lives? They think nothing of those they have killed and maimed. For them the end justifies the means. But their means were achieved through murder.

I do not wish to comment further on the Massereeene incident other than saying that I agree with the ‘terrorists’ Adams and McGuinness when the former said what I quoted him as saying and McGuinness called the perpetrators “traitors to the island of Ireland” (whilst standing next to the most senior police officer in Northern Ireland).

I draw the similarities to South Africa for good reasons Nelson Mandela and Thabo Mbeki were both leaders of the ANC and Umkhonto wi Sizwe and are now held in very high regard by the international community especially Mandela who I am a big fan of! What I am saying is that you cannot call Gerry Adams and co murderers without at the very least implying that Mandela is a murderer and evil man!

Interesting. That appears to be a slightly different view to the one you had yesterday.

Please refer me to the post you are referring to
