That’s great news. Would look nice next to the cockpit section they have now.

Over 80 replies, still nobody has a clue what’s in the container (including me).
Not bad a thread. :p

Just a sign of the times I guess. There is a photograph of an old Dutch Airforce Dump taken somewhere in the late fifties and which shows several Spitfire fuselages and some wings lying there to rot. In the early sixties there were even some Spitfires extant at Eindhoven as a decoy. Their value was nil.
Pity I don’t have a scanner anymore.

That’s not a Barracuda undercarriage leg in the 2nd and 3rd shots down is it?
Adrian

But you are the first to spot it.

Makes you wonder where all those gunsights have gone to.
Cees
What happened to the very early Neptune nose section that was in the Failsworth scrapyard until the early eighties? It had a gun nose with two cannon IIRC and was ex RAF (I think?).

Jeepman,
You and I need to go on holiday together. First to India and then to Pakistan.
We can store the Attacker wings inside the Halifax fuselage which we will tow behind your jeep. :p
We need some very large bags as well.

Not many Elliott,
And it has been painted over several times and there is some surface corrosion, It is difficult to see any numbers in artificial light. Will try to have a look tomorrow with natural light. I only bought it for the trimming knobs but I am curious which type it belonged to.

I believe these were also used on Halifax’s – a friend of mine found one a few years back on a hillside – scrunched up into a ball. He restored it and now it looks like new!
Correct Elliott,
Having seen 682al’s photo of the Whitley throttle box I now see where the engine operational limitation dataplate of N1521 needed to be fitted. I’m happy that it went to a good home.
Any pics of your Whitley panel yet?
