F4U Corsair DVD !
Mark, thanks for the note and link about what must be a great documentary, can’t wait to get mine. A tribute to a real warhorse and the men who flew them. I am trying to remember some of the details about a Corsair that crashed in Columbia, South Carolina say around 2001 ? It was flying at an air display and the pilot was credited with guiding the plane away from houses before the crash. Do you remember any details on this? I believe the pilot was killed? Looking forward to this DVD. Now if we can just get the powers that be to release “Spitfire Ace” on DVD !
Kitty Hawk in North Carolina !!!!!!..well its sort of an airfield !

Thanks for the note and the review on the Grace ML407 films, going to add those top my collection. The program “Spitfire Ace” was outstanding and needs to be out on DVD. It has run here in the states on The History Channel, I see from a post on the Grace website it has also been show in Australia. A first class tribute to the Spitfire ane the young men who flew them in combat! Thanks again for the review!
Thanks Janie for the BBirthday Wishes!
Thanks Janie for the birthday wishes, hit the big 51 today. Asked for a ride in a BlueNose P-51 but had to settle for a ride in a Delta 767. I am hoping some executive will get this great documentary out on DVD “Spitfire Ace”. One of the best flying documentaries I have seen , Carolyn Grace can really fly that lovely Spit ! A most impressive body of work, I believe it was produced by Channel Four in the UK ? Thanks again for the birthday shoutout from here in the colonies !!!!
Where is Penicuik in the UK ????
Yes, but wish he was flying for the good guys, don’t want to go political here ….and where is Penicuik DazDaman? LOL….got a laugh out of your location on the board. Guess its a good thing you don’t work for the local chamber of commerce selling the town or village !
P-38 DVD/CD offer
Derek
Looks like a must have and thanks for posting this, I see there is something on the DVD about the famed P-38 shoot down of Yamamoto. My father grew up with Gordon Whitaker, who flew top cover on this famed mission. Looks like a read treasure trove of material on the P-38, looks like I will treat myself to a late christmas present ! Thanks again for posting this!
BlueNoser352!
Thanks men for the info on the Merlins& P-38!
Thanks for the link on this subject, its sad to think this setup was not tried by the War Production Board, typical bonehead thinking by those in power!
Mark12, now your talking….. JC Meyer’s personal mount , one of the 352nd top pilots and later Chief of Staff of the US Air Force ! Have a very merry christmas Mark12, thanks for posting of the BLUENOSER’s P-51’s from Bodney!
Has to be the 352nd Fighter Group from Bodney, The BlueNosers. With Major George E. Preddy Jr leading the way in the E.T.O. !
Thanks Mike J for the tip!
MikeJ , thanks for the information on The Rudhall Book, I do have the paperback issues already. Guess its a rare publication and sadly the author has passed away. Mr Rudhall wrote me a very nice email before he passed away and told me all the copies had been sold out. This is one publication that needs to find a new publisher and get a second printing indeed, now with the movie out on DVD . Thanks for the tip and information Mike !
Any guess as to when we might see one flying again over the skies of the UK again or Kermit Weeks Mossie in Florida?
Thanks!

Battle of Britain Robert Rudhall Book
I have been searching for the Robert Rudhall book on the making of the Battle of Britain and found this title under his name for a few bucks…over $900 to be exact. Looks like his works have gone up in price and I have not been able to locate a copy anywhere. I bought one at Hendon several years ago but it was damaged & water logged when a hot water heater went KBOOM on me ! I do beleive its out of print and hope to find another copy out there somewhere! Any tips on where to search would be welcomed !
Thanks!

Trooping the Colour will take place this year on Saturday, 12 June at 11.00a.m. The Colour will be trooped by 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards.
Thanks to all who sent in info on this, got this off the Royal page as suggested by one of our fine members Lord Kenley. I have several tapes of this event ,but would love to see it in person. A most impressive ceremony to this Yank. I am heading over on Monday for the D-Day celebrations to pay my respects to all those who fought and served in this epic struggle. God Bless those men &women who served and fought in the British and Commonwealth forces in WWII. Hope I might be lucky enough to see some real Spitfires flying over the beaches during my time there. A humble BlueNoser352 says thanks to all who offered information here. Will be searching the skies for BlueNose P-51’s !
Thanks for the info on this, will try the British Tourist Authority in NYC, they will know for sure. I heard here in the states that the FAA ( Federal Aviation Adminstration) may have new rules on vintage Warbirds (single engine aircraft) with jump seats. Some sort of new rules, this from a warbird owner and pilot. If I hear anything offical I will pass it own. What no Spits over the city of London????? What would Sir Douglas say about this?
Nice to see a note about this ceremony at Madingley, it is indeed very moving and a slaute to the men of the Mighty Eighth. Will be of intrest to see how many actual veterans of that war are in attendance for the event. Had the great pleasure of spending the afternoon one day this week with a B-17 pilot from the 100th BG! He later went on to fly in the Berlin Airlift,Korea and Vietnam. He mostly remembers the time in the UK and flying with the 100th over Germany. Speaks with great emotion about his feelings for the UK and his experiences with the local children near the base during the war. Nice touch to have the Salley B make a pass over the resting place of more Eighth veterans than any other in the world. Been there many times and will be off to Normandy this Sunday on a newer Boeing to honor all the men of D-Day!
Maybe someone can post some photos of this moving ceremony for all here.
