I was considering trademarking the term Smug Git but I see Daz is already using it.

On the few occasions a recalcitrant computer does exactly what I tell it to do, when I tell it, I’ve been known to exclaim “Smug git mode”. Customers are now used to it. I even considered registering smug.git.com just in case it came in useful.

Not as much fun as Daz’s story and given a choice, I prefer his.

“Fighter” is one of the many hundreds of books that are somewhere in the house with nowhere near enough shelves. I haven’t read it for some years now but I doubt AJP Taylor agreed to write the foreword without reading it first.Generally, I have a high opinion of AiB’s views and knowledge but not this time.

Although factually based, I’m always sorry that “Bomber” is a novel. I think it would have been better as a companion to “Fighter”, especially as the titles infer similarity.

Yes, Royal Air Force 1939 – 1945, published in 3 volumes by HMSO.
