    Seems unbelievable now that “we” would scrap most of a very rare, and important, aircraft. I know the odd inane decision stll happens now, but that is pretty staggering.

    Just found a pdf of the X list I downloaded 3 or 4 months ago. Brain failure, still don’t remember finding it.
    However, no Isaacs Spitfire on it.

    If that’s true, in my opinion, it’s only being saved in the short-term. It won’t last very long there.

    When Kev originally volunteered, he asked for suggested dates. We all seem to have missed that. As nobody else has said anything, I’ll throw one in to start with.

    Eagle was used several times before Wasp but I don’t know the exact dates. According to Churchill’s Second World War, Wasp went in April and Eagle again in May.

    I am always thirsty.
    If I was in Belgium it would be another matter. I gather there are loads of different types and styles. Sounds like a challenge.

    Chad, MAP/Argus/Nexus always used to have their obsolete plans available, if you knew what you wanted, from the X List.
    I remember reading that they’d sold the X List off, but a Google search brings up a site that hasn’t been updated since 2001, so I don’t know if they are still available.

    BTW, I cheated, I searched the whole site, not just for plans!

    Much as I hate see aircraft crossing the Atlantic, I’m fairly sure there’s a few that wouldn’t be around now if it wasn’t for Kermit Weeks.
    He’s one of the very few with the passion, and a big enough wallet, to ensure that aeroplanes are properly restored and preserved.
    We’ve all got the passion, but not the wallet!

    Argus Plans Service are now Nexus and they no longer list the Isaacs Spitfire. Their scale drawings are still available for anybody that wants to design their own model.

    A thread on the Historic Aviation forum, about a Forum Meet, seems to have been hijacked into a discussion about beer.
    Looking back, it appears to be me that started it… Sorry!

    However, you can stick your Belgian beers, the Abbot has arrived in my local. I’m endeavouring to ensure they sell as little as possible to anybody else.

    Somebody recommended http://www.arisinn.co.uk/ for me last year. Sounds a good idea, (it was just a pub when I lived around there), but if Daz is planning on using public transport I don’t expect the bus service to be very frequent.
