I just found a bottle of Old Speckled Hen looking for a home and decided it was time to get the inside of my face wet, as opposed to the outside.

As many have said, there was a lot of laughter.
The first time we went to the Red Lion, I remember his face lighting up as he tried Broadside and then his jaw dropping when he saw Moggy’s Roadkill Platter. He was so impressed, he had one himself.

I’ll be at Duxford again in a couple of weeks and I’ll raise a glass at the Red Lion to somebody we will all miss.

This is the first time I’ve looked at the forum today so I’m a bit behind the rest of you.

I suppose shocked is as good a start as any. It was always a pleasure to see Steve at the various gatherings over the last couple of years. As others have said, he was always ready with a quip and generally brightened things up.

Condolences to Haydn, Julie and Steve’s family.

When yet another big softie has finished working his way down a box of tissues, a suitable libation will be found, if a bit late.

RIP Steve.

The only thing going on around here this weekend was the Rolls-Royce Model Club scale weekend.

Weather was average to start and seriously deteriorated so static only but here are my offerings. I don’t know any details but the Stringbag looked gigantic.

I think I read somewhere (FP ?) that it’s not long, a year or two. It’s a shame but I suppose they can’t really go on for ever.

Are the Canberras really terminal cases or is there any hope for them?

I haven’t seen the Canberras but if they’re anything like the Cortina, it would take dedication or serious stupidity to take them on.

I thought the rear edge of one of the front wings didn’t look right last week – I touched it and the whole wing fell off.

Could be advertised as suitable for restoration I suppose but “economical with the truth” isn’t even close. 🙂

With a few sharp kicks, it will probably go in carrier bags.

Not really relevant since the dataplate clearly says US but Alcoa have had UK production facilities for many years.

If it helps, I’ve absolutely no idea. It’s between the overflow part of the car park and the HFL (?) compound. I’ve never used the motorway sliproad adjacent to it and I suspect most that have find concentrating on the approaching roundabout to be advisable.

No axe to grind, I’m still on a steam-driven 35mm SLR, (or 8, I think).

I put the extra copy of “Stephen Morris” on the pile of duplicates to get rid of. My mum’s visiting and picked it up to read. Turns out “Pilotage” is the second part of that book. Might be a good idea to keep that one.
