RAFRochford i think the Canberra`s you are thinking of were German Airforce 99+34 & 99+35, regular visitors to Southend at that time. Something i believe to do with Photographic work for Marconi`s.
Here`s a picture
yes i done a double take to 🙂
Nick ( Old fart ),
After looking at the Sealand Pics, how do they get on it? I could not see no ladders going up either of the two supports which i gather are hollow?
Any ideas?
Jamie
Should use the budgets like the rest of us !
Ignore my last post!
Theres a DVD full of the Pink Pilot
I know this is a little sad, but having watched the clip a few times you begin to wonder where its filmed…..any ideas anyone.
PS – Vehicles are driving on the Left, but dont think its the UK!
Sconner, are there anymore of those on the net anywhere?
Can anyone answer why they used BHX? I have just seen the BBC Local news for the East, and they are going on about 100`s of passengers delayed why th R/W is blocked. As it was a TNT flight with no PAX, and it must have been a guaranteed R/W closure once down, why pick a busy Intl airport?
Years ago when something like this happened inbound to any of the South East airports, Manston was always used for these sort of diversions. I know Manston is probably no longer suitable but what about other places, with much less knock on disruption?
Anyone know?
Glad you liked the video of 9J-PAA – just incase anyone is feeling “flush” at the moment, 9J-PAA is still for sale and has been drastically reduced!
Basically if you have £100,000 spare, you can have it delivered to the UK, complete with Spares and a Ferry Crew, and its 100% airworthy.
Wether of course it can be flown once here, is another matter. 🙂
Wow the Royal Throne, bet that turns up on Ebay with the Tangmere sign 🙂
I have a flight LGW-SFB Next March with TCD and was expecting 743 and maybe the new 400`s, but flight confirmation paperwork arrived last week stated 757!
nearly forgot….just to wet your appetite……
I am sure someone can answer this, but whats the score with regard to preserving a type in the UK in flying condition, am i correct in thinking that it requires some sort of support from OEM`s etc, in order to get CAA approval……if thats the case i wonder how it would work with something like the Carvair.
What a lovley thought Albert.
G-ORDY there were two at Honolulu late 80, early 90`s I gather N5459M & N5459X.
These are the two Ex Ansett machines, both still current as 9J-PAA & N898AT. The first one being the one thats up for sale.
Having done a bit more digging tonight, i think the following is roughly correct.
Still flying are ;
N89FA – (As mentioned above) Gator Global – Formally G-ASHZ
N898AT – Brooks Fuel Alaska – Formally C-GAAH Hawkair & originally Ansetts VH-INK ( never UK Reg)
9J-PAA – Phoebus S-Africa – Formally N5459M and again an Ansett VH-INM
Others sadly scrapped or crashed in the last 10 years included
N55243 (G-AXAI),
9Q-CTI ( G-ASKG )
N103 ( G-ASDC )
N83FA ( G-AREK )
Rumour has it 9J-PAA – Phoebus S-Africa – Formally N5459M and again an Ansett VH-INM was for sale at $250,000 US Dollars, for those of you Lotto winners 😉
