I saw those a few weeks ago, wondered what they were, the gates were open to that complex so i should have gone in and had a look, but was short of time.

I think if i remember right there were 2 Dominicana Carvairs, HI-172 and i think HI-168.
168 crashed at Miami in 1969, with 4 fatalities and was distroyed i think, but 172 was withdrawn from use in stored in Santo Domingo in 1978.

Good Luck to Jon in Aug….I`m not far behind in Oct LGW-SFB, hope its over the the 400`s, dont know if that means back seat TV`s for all, but the kids are not looking forward to just 1 cabin TV, spoilt bratts, too much BA for them.

Hi, I was at LHR the other evening and they were landing on 09L.

For getting some hopefully decent photos, I just wondered if anyone has ever considered parking the the “Business” car parks that run along the perimiter fence up the side of 09L?

Can you park there? And if so, stay all day with your car and get some great shots…….you need to be a bit flush with the parking but £21.95 does not seem to bad for 24 hours, if they let you do it?

Thanks for the replies. I did wonder about going down the Ebay route ( dont shout at me ) by that i mean buying a second hand one, being sold by a reputable good feedback UK seller, not someone from Hong Kong etc, there was a 30D on there the other day, body only, couple of years old i gather and it was going for around £300.

I remember the DC3`s and Islanders, and even a Cessna Seaplane all in Yellow Check scheme, but the DC4 was before the DC3 days, i think they only had it in for a week or two, and were probably evaluating it as it was before they had any contracts awarded and got the Daks.

I used to work for them as a “Saturday Boy” when i was 16, and was used to mixing with Cessnas, Pawnee`s & a Fokker Triplane, so a DC4 outside the Hanger was a bit different!
