Andy,
I think your right about 416, she was of course rescued and taken to the NATO aircraft museum.
There has been a full list of the survivors and fatalities on this forum somewhere but my searches have come to nought.
Regards,
John.
Yorkie,
Thats XS897, now resident at Aeroventure.
Regards,
John.
Yorkie,
897 was rescued from Rossington but not before her wings were cut off and a JCB was halfway into her spine, there were a few others that were rescued either in cockpit form or complete airframe.
320psi will be able to fill you in with the full details.
Regards,
John.
Nice picture phil, interesting loadout!!.
Regards,
John.
Some shocking stuff Andy, at least they were not all lost to the scrap mans axe.
Regards,
John.
I look forward to your Rossington shots Andy.
John.
Oops, you beat me to it Andy!!!!.
John.
Yorkie,
She was flown in, in 1988, her wings are still ‘intact’, like I mentioned before though there are a couple of bits of kit missing from the cockpit, also a quick look up her bum (ooeer!!) confrims that at least her jetpipes are still in place, IF the engines are still in (she certainly sits like they are) then they would be pretty much seized by now, having not bee turned in 20 years and sat outside for the majority of that time, one can only imagine how stuck they might be.
IMHO if they stripped her down and gave her a good paint job then set her up as if on the flight line (they have the ground equipment) then she would make a superb display.
Regards,
John.
Is that a B.1 stick?
Regards,
John.
Peter,
please, my post is not aimed at you directly, I appologise unreservedly.
My post was a response to the advert which throws up the questions that I asked, I suppose at the end of the day they are just questions that shoot through ones head naturaly when, the project is in it’s dying days, comes up with an idea like this that could have helped them long ago.
To me it’s no use now comming up with these ideas which could have helped the project a long long time ago, when she is in need of a much bigger cash injection.
If they had done stuff like this from the begginning then maybe we would not be in this situation now?.
As has been said, this should have been released by 558pressoffice to all forums and points of advertising, it is highly commendable that you have found it and posted it here but it should really have been done by them.
Once again Peter, I regret that my post looks like it may have been aimed at you and again I appologise.
Kindest regards,
John.
Peter,
Why is it that you should have to bring this event to our attention?.
If this is a monthly thing then why didn’t they open the gates every month for paying supporters to help with funding?.
Why are they limiting the tickets to 100?, the place is big enough to take ten times more than that, which would mean ten times the revenue earned.
Why are they advertising this so late in the day, less than a week to the 17th does not give people enough time to organise children and time off work.
Sorry but to me this is just a smack in the face.
JB.
Got my mush in the cockpit last year and she was in pretty good condition, although there was one or two pretty big lumps of kit missing.
I am also certain that at least both jet pipes are still in place.
Regards,
JB.
Looks like someone snuck in a tripod:D, when I went in with mine they damn near arrested me!, even though it took four of them and a phone call to the control room to see if they allowed tripods.
Nice pics by the way.
John.
and then they all but miss the target
Moggy
Am I missing something?
John.
While you all sitting tearing this idea to shreds
Have a nice day.
I’m sorry, I have held my breath long enough, I have always resisted posting on these threads.
Bubbles, you are quite clearly in the know, why are these times not posted by 558pressoffice?????, the more information that comes directly from them then the more confidence is instilled in those that would be willing to part with their hard earned.
If this is a publicity stunt to raise a significant level of interest, but a not too insignificant level of further funding, then why is it being done at the end of the month??????, surely you would do it at the beginning of the month and then you would have a longer period of increased fund raising, it’s a bit of a poor show when you have raised the awareness levels and then have to say to people ‘we only have 6 days left’, smacks a little bit of closing the gate once the horse has bolted don’t you think?.
Regards,
John.
