Darn it!!!!
Nice clip by the way.
John.
Thats the Spitfire VB BL655, the pilot was unfortunatley killed in the crash, while it seems a bit gruesome to have this wreck on display it really brings home what was given by so many and it’s display speaks thousands of words, I stood silent for what seemed an age just thanking all those who faught for what was right all those years ago.

John.
I’m afraid my camera didn’t like the dark so mine are all out of focus 🙁
Got some video of the fireworks though, but I doubt they count lol 😀
******!!!! we left early becouse the chap in charge of the PA said that the fireworks had been cancelled.
John.
Afternoon all,
Here are my pics from last night, not very good I’m affraid and just as they struck her up the heavens opened up so the cam had to go away.

Some shots from inside the hanger…..

That’s the best I could manage, new camera and a stronger tripod is on the horizon me thinks, comments very welcome.
Regards,
John.
Just uploading mine now, the pics on UKAR are superb and the chap who took the ones with her engines running was very brave becouse it was slinging it down and water+cameras=disaster for me usually.
John.
As far as I know he flies for an airline of some description and as Lindy’s Lad rightly points out he is now back current on the Lightnings at Thunder City in SA.
John.
This is an Avro wind tunnel model as displayed at the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester, the damn thing was huge and was told it tipped the scales at over a ton, no prizes for guessing what it is a model of!!……

John.
55 years since the first flight of the prototype Lightning.
John.
hey keep the posts coming, all replies are very interesting. Do any of you have a pic of a Victor with a bomb load, or an earlier variant?
How about a full stick of 31 bombs?………

Wouldn’t want to get in the way of that lot!!!!!.
John.
Just to add to Roberts excellent reply, the Victor was chosen for tanking over the Vulcan becouse it could carry more spare fuel and had three hoses enabling two aircraft to tank at once.
Not sure if three could tank at once? guess it could be quite a tight formation which would not be suitable for tanking.
John.
I will put money on that NOT being a Merlin, if a someone managed to get a Merlin to sound like that it would only last for a few seconds before you would be left with a carrier bag full of broken bits!!.
John.
Good morning all,
In this world of ‘bail outs’ and ‘credit crunch’ it seems that aviation artifacts are still fetching a good price, is stuff appreciating in price or are some people still to quick to part with their money?.
Two stick tops have been sold recently on E-bay for what I consider far in excess of what they are worth, or am I out of touch with values??.
