Does anyone know whats happening to the rest of the collection at Grainthorpe?, IIRC they have a Draken, 2 x Lightning, 2 x Lightning noses and 2 x Lightning stripped fuselages.
John.
The Hull City Councils plans for her had fallen by the wayside after the transport and re-mounting costs (not forgetting a re-paint) had been calculated.
As far as I know she is n the hands of the receivers who are dealng with the entire site and she is to be sold allong with the site, for some reason they seem unwilling to sell her separetly.
All the while she is being slowly demolished by vandals.
John.
The Hunter in Hull (Airfix factory) is spoken for…
Phillip Rhodes
Whats happening to her?
John.
TwinOtter
I am trained on the Varsity and Vulcan and part through training for the Shackleton, although they are not fighters I will hopefully be moving on to the other airframes as time permits.
Personnaly I would like to get onto the Phantom simulator:D .
John.
Come and say hello, I shall be there one of the days on cockpit duty hopefully.
Regards,
John.
Here you go mjr 🙂
Got it!!!!!!, it’s the 250gal ventral fuel tank pressure relief valve.
John.
The Swordfish is one of my most favourite bi-planes, she just looks right to me, well done guys.
John.
Signed….thanks for the heads up Moggy.
John.
It amazes me why someone would want to spend that amount of money on insurance let alone buying the car itself.
The monthly re-payments alone are more than my mortgage!!, kinda puts it in perspective, and like Moggy says you could get your PPL and lots of flying time for that price.
I know what I would rather do.
John.
Sorry but I might have veered off topic!, personally I would love to spank a Skyline around a track, a mental car with an almost unlimited choice for modification and tuning.
Thing is though I only see it as a track car and not for the road, our roads are not in any condition for it’s suspension which would be nothing but spine shattering and the local/national and international constabulary would be all over your backside as soon as you give it some.
Give me a big, lazy cruiser with lots of gadgets any day.

John.

I only know she was the gate guard (along with a Lightning) at RAF Binbrook, she was removed when the base closed and put in storage.
What happened to her between then and the science museum and what was her history from birth to gate guard would be interesting to find out.
John.
AAAGGGHHHH!!!!!! Dont’ tell me that now!!!:D 😀 oh well live and learn:p .
John.
Looks like a actuator of some description to me. Also was inpressed that the panel you remove to access it it slightly smaller than the part itself! So Lightnings were dogs to work on, the rumours are true! Never been up close and personal with lightning so I’m guessing! I expect to be corrected by someone with more knowledge!!
Very close again PPJ!, it’s a PFCU (powered flying control unit) for the ailerons.
John.
HF Aerial?
Close PPJ, heres my guess.
If it’s port side then it’s the Localiser Aerial, if it’s starboard side then it’s the glide slope aerial.
John.
heres another. black dialectric panel on the leading edge.
that was a cracker that last one john.
Depends which side it’s on as to what it’s for….:D .
