Any day from the tenth to the eighteenth is no problem and with notice most other days in Feb can be done (I have some time off due).

As for Cockpitfest, I am without a doubt going to be there too:D .

    Regards,

I think it would be nice to do another forum meet at Duxford in the next month or so.

It would be great as we could return to the Ashley/Rocketeer format of the first with say a chat from someone interesting and Forumites showing their wares then discussion and raffle to raise money for a charity.

This would help bring back some friendliness to the Forum too…what say you all?

Being very new to this forum it would be very nice from my point of view to do this, put faces to names:p .

    Count me in:) .

I think it’s time for another reality pill ! Not every Vulcan can be preserved and I am sure by now the Lottery has done it’s bit so the future isn’t bright for the type .

Jagged little pills are hard to swallow!!, and how many times are we going to keep saying that not every Vulcan can be preserved.

Two scrapped within twelve months is a high rate of attrition for these beasts and if this has been done through H&S issues then they will start looking at others around the country with the net result of scrapping more if they show the meerest signs of rust, god help us if someone gets a bit in their eye!!!.

And yes you are right in saying that the lottery has done there bit but doesn’t that mean the future DOES look bright?.

    John.

I guess at least she is being spares recovered and not pummeled to death like 391..

No offence but which ever way you slice it she is still being pummelled to death:( .

It is good to see that all usable spares are going to other projects but this is still no justification for her scrapping, IMHO the TVOC are not relying on this source of spares for 558’s flying career, it is merely a bonus to have extra spares should anything go tech during the air show season.

I have thought long and hard about my initial statement ‘the men in suits should hang their heads in shame’ and I still stand by it.
After visiting several museums and seeing the condition of some of the very limited numbers of Vulcan’s that are on public display I feel that the potential for 603’s future could have been ranked as one of the most hopeful.

Woodford has all the resources and manpower to make something of her at comparatively very little cost, could she not have been towed closer to the perimeter fence and then the fence brought in behind her so that public access was not governed by Woodford security?, this would no doubt have attracted more volunteers and almost guaranteed her future.

Also if H&S was an issue it is only because the Heritage Group were working from ‘unsafe’ ladders, this again comes directly from Woodford unwillingness to help, they could have no doubt donated or loaned some suitable staging and training at very little or no cost that would have assured that the H&S bods would have been happy.

I am also thinking of the wider implications of what is going on here, what if other sites follow suit?, I am thinking firstly of the superb Aviation Collection at Boscombe Down, there are over twenty cockpit sections and complete airframes that are incredibly significant, these are stored and worked on in one of the vacant HAS’s by volunteers.
What if the ‘suits’ at Boscombe Down followed Woodford’s example and suddenly decided to refuse them access due to H&S reasons and then scrapped everything?.

It’s plainly obvious to me that whoever is in charge at Woodford has simply turned their back on 603 a while ago and knowingly let her get in this state so that removal/scrapping is the only option only to say in the next board meeting ‘I have solved this issue and saved a few bob’ to the collective cheers and back slapping.

Sorry if my views are not all ‘pc’ but I’m sure some will agree, It stinks:mad: .

    Kindest regards,

    John.

The common sense thing to do I suppose when posting pictures on a forum where people can do the ‘right click and save’ is to put a copyright watermark through the frame.

Not just a small one in the corner that can be cropped out, a dirty great big one through the middle complete with e-mail address so that if someone wishes to use the origional then they have no option but to contact you.

The double whammy would come with the forum instigating a ‘no right click’ programme which prevents unauthorized copying of pictures as is used on other fora.

As a bonus it would prevent all this fuss and everyone would be happy;).

    Graham,

I watched with dismay at the goings on just before Christmas and I must say it takes a lot of heart to forgive, you have obviously made a strong commitment to supplying spares in a very narrow and competitive market.

I wish you and your company all the very best for the new year.

I trust you have permission from the copyright holder to save these images on your hard drive and re-post them here without crediting them.

Correct me if I am wrong but why is this a copyright issue?, all the poster is doing is bringing to someones attention the pictures on another thread much the same as someone would pass you a book to show you an illustration.
The poster has not used the images for profit or personal gain as far as I can see and after posting who is to say that he did not delete them from his hard drive?.

As well as hanging thier heads in shame the men in suits at Woodford should provide the required tooling, manpower, cranes and transport to have the nose section removed correctly and moved to a new location for the Heritage boys to keep her safe.

I have heard that the aircraft hanger at Manchester Science Museum will be re-vamped in the next few years, she would make a fantastic display in there.

Those pictures of 603’s cockpit are some of the best I have ever seen and she is so complete, I hope she is still in that condition.

If at least the nose section is not saved it would the single most biggest loss to Vulcan preservation ever.
