John,
The list in short is as follows:
· Rig the throttles and adjust the idling speed on both engines.
(This will avoid asymmetric issues).
· Fix the control and protection unit for the port engine.
· Bleed the brakes and test the braking/anti-skid system.
· Replace the aileron cables to the powered flying units.
· Rig and align all flying control surfaces.
· Fix the hydraulics on the bomb bay door.
· And a list of other minor snags.Phew, a lot more still to do yet!
Plazz
Sounds like sore and bleeding knuckles all round, will she be making any moves at this years open day?, engine runs or some slow figure of eight manouvers maybe.

John.
Bump;) .
Has a date been set?.
John.
Midland Air Musium has an aileron I think, or could be a wing panel.
Here is ‘the office’.

John.
Great news Plazz, I can’t wait to see her at this years open day.
In short what has to be done to get her taxying now?, brakes, steering, MOT:D .

John.
Guys
Brilliant efforts all round:D , can I e-mail the high res version to someone for the full treatment as I would like to have it printed off A3 size for my office.
Regards,
John.
Oooops:o 😮 , post corrected.
Too much fizzy pop last night:p .
John.
Vulcan for sure:D .
RCAF Sqd badge?
Regards,
John.
A toughy for me, I have allways been split between the two and never really considered an either or scenario.
The Vulcan to me is a beautifull lady that gracefully dances around the sky with such agility and power and those screaming Olympus engines, this is the thing though, she just doesn’t look brute enough.
The Victor on the other hand to me is a mighty sledgehammer, a powerfull looking animal of an aircraft that could deliver a very bad day, bomb loads would have not been important if the types had stayed in service a little longer as free fall bombing has given way to prescision munitions, IIRC the Vulcan was fitted with LGB’s for trials but never implimented.
Beauty, agility and power….
Hard looking, fast flying sledgehammer……

John.
An interesting story camlobe, well done to all involved:D .
As an asside I think you should qualify for a new free clutch from Landrover as you have clearly advertised how strong it is:dev2: .
I wish you and all the project members all the best for her restoration.
Regards,
John.
I can’t clarrify that any more XL391, it depends on how you read the piece and how the author interpreted his research.
From my point of view he directly quotes that mod 2222 was estimated to cost 1.2m in 92 by the MOD and that it actually cost the TVOC £80,000.
Quite what else is involved in the mod 2222 I do not know so you could be very right in what you say, MOD cost of 1.2m would have involved a lot more and TVOC’s quote of £80,000 might have just been for wacking some plates on and riveting them into place;) .
Regards,
John.
The lottery funding for such a project would certainly be out of the question, as has been mentioned before look how long it took the TVOC to get this far and it has not been an easy ride either.
On the cost of the re-spar I have read a recent artical on the progress of XH558 and one of the points was that the MOD predicted that the rear spar strenghtenng in 1992 would cost around 1.2m and that it actually cost in 2006 a mear £80,000 (mod 2222).
And lets not forget what happened to the unfortunate Pellican 16:( , I am sure that the CAA would think very carefully about letting another Shack fly especially in the UK.

John.

Lots of self birching and a few swear words later I have worked it out:D 😀 .
