Looks to me like the reflection of the roundel on the starboard wing, this airframe is still in it’s highly polished aluminium and IMHO the best finish on a Lightning.

This is both fantastic news and disapointing news, why?, becouse all at Thunder City have done a fantastic job of bringing yet another Lightning to flying condition and disapointing becouse I will not (bank robbing excluded!) be able to afford to see them in the near future.

I only wish that the CAA sit up and realise that it is possible to restore and fly a Lightning and has been done now four times over by a private company, I heard a rumour that Mr Beachy-head was negotiating with the CAA to bring one of his wonderfull birds over to the UK to fly the airshow curcuit (entirly possible as one of thier Buccaneers is fitted out as a tanker), if only this rumour where true…………..cue lots of beer and dream sequency’s!!!!.

My hat goes of to all those involved in the restoration and continued faultless flying of the most elegent and ruthless warbird that Britain has ever produced, I only wish that one day I will be able to wrench my neck skyward and gaze upon this wonder once more.

Ok far to much Holsten has been absorbed, time to return to the cage!!!!!!!.

    Regards,

    John.

Has the interior/cockpit been re-built or is this going to be a work in progress over the next few years?.

Could you please PM me with some more details, I know someone who is looking for a cockpit and will convey this to him (currently not on the web).

Yet another thread on 558 and all that is involved, starts with an innocent query, moves to the ‘I know more about it than you do’ dick dance which involves copious amounts of personal attacks and ends up going way off topic.

As far as I can see (and I class myself as a very inexperienced person) they tried and are near failure but appear not to be going down without a fight, even if it fails at this point in time someone who see’s the potential will probably be able to pick up the torch and finish the job, maybe not this year or maybe not the next but one thing is for sure it is hard to ignore the amount of work and effort that has gone into this job and at the very least she will be rolled out of the hanger in a better condition than when she went in (I hope!).

Please, from a person who lives in hope and optimism lets not go through with this type of thread again and support the crew in getting her back to where she belongs, no matter how rocky the road.

    Kindest regards,

    John.

Thanks for the tips chaps, I will have to get into Adobe!, does it convert RAW to jpeg ?.

Gareth Horne, I value your advice but the picture I posted has had no adjustments what so ever, I used Rawshooter to view and was happy with it so converted it to jpeg, the ‘helo’ effect you talk about is new to me I put it down to it actually being heat haze of the subject as it was 30+ deg that day.

I will sit down tonight and try infraview and also get to grips with adobe, once again thanks for the pointers.

    Regards

    John.
