Sat up all night shift trying to get an answer down in some sort of idiot speek but Andy B you have got it all there mate…….better than my mad ideas 😮 .

Ok an easy one………What is the official endurance record for a single sortie on internal fuel only?.

I have read somewhere that one Lightning jock took and F.3 from Binbrook on a wide ‘racetrack’ style oval curcuit and upon landing on probably less than the minimums managed to exceed 2 hours flight time.

I wonder what the interior is like, I recall seeing lots of bits from 903 on flea-bay including one of the stick tops, instruments and also recently an ejection seat main gun/tube.

The Shorts SC1 and the P1127 should go to Cosford along with other the experimentals, come to think of it the ‘Flying Bedstead’ too.

I totally agree with the way you feel about it but I am going to wait until it is open to make judgement, the reason for this is that on this forum all the pics I have seen are from a distance and the hanger is obviously full of cranes and rigging gear.

That is not to say that what they have done is acceptable, far from it, I am the type of enthusiast that lkes to see an airframe on it’s undercarriage in a nice well lit hanger so that you can take a few snaps and admire it relativly close up.

It appears to me that the new hanger will not provide this cenario for the hardcore enthusiast but it will cater for the casual observer that has a passing interest and hopefully will encourage young and new enthusiasts to the forefront of aviation, the debate can rage on and on with this hanger both for and against, mostly an even discusion that probably at this stage has no ending.

Unfortunatly things have gone way beyond reversing any damage done and I for one will wait untill it opens to pass judgement but one fears that the outcome is a foregone conclusion.

This part of the airframe was vunerable to fatigue/stress fractures and to make inspection easy they would not paint them.

The idea was that it would be quick and easy for ground crew to spot anything wrong and then the airframe inspection engineer could do the neccessary without having to strip and re-paint that part.

I have only been told and read about this so back up from an experienced airframe tech. please!!!.

It does help Dave, I was also a bit worried about the airfields stance on things after their handling of XM172 and the Hunter but that I’m sure is a whole other story.

I was worried about my origional post as I wish not to cause any offence, From what I have read and seen Mr Parkhouse appears to have an uphill strugle on his hands but in my eyes he seems to be doing a bang up job saving an airframe, my best wishes go out to him and all involved.

Sorry to say this (and perhaps couse offence) but there is no undercover storage at Booker and when I saw her last she was unceremoniuosly stored balanced on top of a container.

I fear that the reasources are not there to make a reasonable re-build to static condition, there are lots of other things that make me worry about her future but only time will tell.

If anyone has some recent pics of her or any info on future plans then it would be nice to hear from them.

A little off topic hear but I am very impressed by your shots and would like to know if a rank amature like me could replicate (or just get near!!).

I have a Nikon with a standard 18-70 lense, what sort of lense did you use to get the Lanc framed in such a nice way? am I right in thinking along the lines of a wide angle?

I’m pretty sure it was the L29 Delfin but the pic I have doesn’t have the number on it so I am only relying on grey matter!!!
