It takes 50 minutes to walk to the Runway 16 spot from the Terminal and it takes 30 minutes to walk to the Runway 28 spot that makes Runway 16 further away than 28 in my book.
I’ve been to Dublin 7 times and visited the three main spots so I think I’ve a good idea of what I’m talking about and won’t be waisting any more of my time on this trivia.

From personal experience I would still stick to my view, on one trip we got a taxi from the terminal out to the Runway 16 spot at Dublin where he dropped us off at the big roundabout there and he was well put out at having to go straight back to the Terminal and queue for another fare.
Naturally it would be different if you got a Dublin based taxi but the Airport guys are looking for a decent fare of quite a few miles not a hop around to the other side of the Airport.

No it’s the other way around I was talking about walking from the Terminal out to the viewing spot at Runway 28. You are talking about the reverse direction.
I know it’s no problem getting a taxi back to the Terminal and in fact on one visit we got a taxi from there to Runway 16 after a Runway change.

Oops that should have said “where a couple of DHL A300′ park”, I was typing a bit quick there.

Guys I made up a viewing map for Dublin about a year ago and put it on my site so if some of you are unfamiliar about the layout of Dublin and where to go depending on Runway direction it may help to give a good idea of what to expect.
I like to take shots of the actual places that you stand as well as aircraft photos from the same places to show the view in front so by clicking the dots on my map it will bring up the viewing ones.
As here in Scotland wind direction is mainly of a Westerly origin so the most used Runway at Dublin is 28 which gives the best views by walking around from the Terminal to the raised grass bank on the opposite side of the road from the perimeter fence.
We usually walk it to there when we go as the taxi drivers won’t thank you for asking to go there.
Sun in the Summer isn’t side on until after 10-30am but you get the rest of the day until about 5pm when it is getting nose on.
In the Winter the sun (if you get any) will be okay when it comes up until you lose it in mid afternoon.
When it gets drak you can have a wander airside before getting your flights home and there are some possibilities of nights shots from one satellite that looks towards where a couple of DHL A330’s park, last time I was there an Air Cairo TU204 was parked there doing one of those flights.
Oh one last thing I always take my flat top steps with me to DUB, never a problem getting them on the plane and I’ve done it half a dozen times from PIK to there, they come in very handy for that bit of extra height with me being a little “vertically challenged” lets say.

There has been a long term rumour that when the Ryanair 737-200 in “Hertz” colours is withdrawn the Airline will paint up a 737-800 in similar style to continue to promote Hertz due to their tie up with the Rental company so maybe we will see a logojet again once the -200’s are gone for good.
When I last visited Dublin in September “Hertz” was still flying so I presume it still will be unless it is withdrawn from service at Dublin.
It was a pity Ryanair gave up painting a Santa plane for Christmas a few years ago, would be nice if they did it again for this one.

I shot a few others this day before the Emirates landed and here are four more.
At Glasgow the River Cart is at the Eastern end of the field which causes thicker fog at the Runway 23 end so it is quite common to switch Runways to 05 (like here) for better visibility and once it lifts it goes back to 23 again.
The Air Luxor went off 23 five minutes after the Runway switch to 23 when the fog was mostly gone.

Thanks guys I was just reading the comments on my foggy Emirates, got a nice result with that one as the thick stuff had just lifted about 15 minutes earlier.
A330’s are always a good bet for condensation effects if there is a lot of moisture in the air.
Here are some other shots of it from that sequence showing fogging over the wings.
