Cadbury Drive?
Obviously a ‘”Flake(y)” story then…
Flake(y) story,more like a whisper of a story!
I read recently that when the engine was changed decades ago and a hybrid one fitted the prop was nearly out of hours and that three blade ones were very difficult to obtain so a four blade prop was fitted.Dont count on her reappearing with a three blade unit as the flight only has one and that is on P7350.
Stoned hippy squatter??????,hope they charge him rent!
Its widely known that east kirkby has its fair share of paranormal activity even before there was a museum on site.Caravaners used to stay on the air field years ago and reguarly used to see coloured lights in the disused control tower even though there was no electricity on.The ghostly airman scene walking towards the tower is more likely to be a replay of history i.e the stone tape recorder theory. If you ever get to speak to any of the pantons they have scene and heard more than any one else at the airfield so be prepared for a long sit down.
It really paints a picture doesnt it,just so beautifully written and very moving. One of the best war poems Ive read for some time.

If you live in the nottingham area you can pop into your news agent and buy the “Bygones” this week and inside you will find an excellent feature on the museum from its early days up to the present day.
I remember one of these doing a display at nottingham airport tollerton, august bank holiday 1984/5.Lovely pictures.
It started off good but then dropped off fast.. the one about EK was good…
I spoke to john panton after the e.k episode was show the first time and he confirmed that his arm did indeed smell of fuel and fire and that he had become unwell during the filming. He also said certain film crew members were firing bb guns and in one sequence you can quite clearly hear that type of gun being fired.Strange lights and voices in the control tower i have heard and scene my self so i dont dispute that.It was an entertainment program afterall and was supposed to be factual which it fell well short of being. The debates about it will roll on as will the repeates.
Thanks edgar and dazdaman.
Clutching mummy’s hand, in Tooting High St. sometime during either 1940 or ’41, dismantled Spit on the back of a Queen Mary trundling along. Suffocating excitement!.
Then evacuation to Hatfield, Yorkshire. Walking along the lane from Hatfield to Dunscroft. Splitting roar as Spitfire hurtles past at telegraph pole height, pilot waving like mad !
From my bedroom window watching Lancasters in the circuit at Lindholme.
So many eye witness stories, I could you all witless !
Lovley memories.
Oh joy ~another~ Spitfire thread

Dont read any further then.
Me to RAF St Athan around 1976. There for a week working mainly on the JU88 Prior to delivery to its new home at Hendon.:D
