But they will also not hit you on the head if you ask them to do so. 😀

Certainly right, even if the numbers of differenrets integration might lead to a bigger problem.
But we do agree on that, the problem is that someone said it was CHEAPER.

It is cheaper – for the export customer. Nobody said something different.

LEt’s say, if needed by the French AF: MoD
For export version (AMRAAM could be a good example) Dassault
A more specific weapons: the customer.

Dassault paying for the weapons integration ?? Don´t you think that these costs will be calculated into the unit price for the customer.

If singapore want the typhoon + MICA who would pay for it ?

Apart from the fact that I see no reason for them to want MICA, as they already operate the AMRAAM on their F-16s and could get the superior Meteor shortly after delivery of the planes, I would say Singapore would have to pay. No partner nation has a desire to add the MICA to the Typhoon. Such integration work would take away time from the contracted development time. So – I guess Singapore would pay for it in the end. Either directly or through a higher unit price if the EF consortium pays the integration work.

In france, the day Troll is friday

Of course, it’s only for transition and I can’t see the link between the low figures of french mirage 2000-5 and how good it is.
Must I understand that the F-22 won’t be as good as the F-16 ?

Say what you want, the numbers of M2k-5s in french service are low. If I compare it to the while fleet udates done by the british, then it is a minor thing. And we should remember that the M2k-5 upgrade was paid by Dassault and the french goverment only did buy some to increase the export chances of the M2k5.
It has nothing to do with the quality of the M2k5, which is an excellent plane just like Rafale. I wanted to point out that the Tornado has been put through a big update paid for by the british government.
The M2k has also seen an upgrade, but the development costs were largely paid by Dassault. The backing of the french government was medicore at best.
If you look at the costs of such upgrades it must be asked how many private frims can actually develop an upgrade programm without a government paying for it.

I think it was at least accpeted by the higher officers.

And don´t give me that “they probably were in a fight just before …. ” They were working a prison guards – period. I doubt these US soldiers did see real combat for weeks or months. For me thsi is typical REM behavior – play cool with your prisoners so that you have something cool to show when you get home.
I alos don´t buy the “every large group of people has some strange people in it”. hat is correct, but in an army such things should not happen simply because it is tight controlled social group. If one soldier would have done something and he would have been reported by other soldiers, then I would accept that explanation. But a group of soldiers under the eyes of the officers – no. That was done intentional.

Such behavior is a disgrace for every professional army. It is a disgrace for the officer corps, the US president and finally the US.

The soldiers of the worlds leading power of freedom and democracy being nothing more then some sadistic perverts.
I bet those pictures will haunt the US and most probably totally innocent people will pay the price.

here’s the kicker my Sh-60 friend,

will they integrate it on ALL Typhoons or just their own Typhoons 😉

The capability to use those weapons will be available to all Typhoons. After the tests are completed it is just a matter of software updating. AFAIK the updates do include the weapons for all customers and are exactly the same for all customers.

So every Typhoon could use every weapon integrated by one of the partner nations. (would need a software update at most)

Sidewinder AMRAAM – yes but also many differences :

    – ALARM (UK) and HARM (Germany + Italy)
    – ASRAAM (UK) and IRIS-T (Germany)
    – Storm Shadow (Uk) and Taurus Germany

    for example

So, is it cheaper or not ?
Give DAssaultThales any weapons and they can integrated them … if allowed.

And France or Dassault will pay the integration, or will the customer have to pay for the integration.
So in the end Typhoon is more expensive for the partner nations, but probably cheaper for export customers.

    Mirage 2000-5 mk2

A rather limited upgrade, don´t you think. A rather limited number bought by the Arme de l´Air. Compare that to the Harrier, Jaguar or Tornado in british service.

    Ahead of what ?
Do you think the rafale program is stalled ?

Ahead in the number of weapons fully tested an integrated into the airplane.

Imho Rafale is still on track. I´m simply sure that 4 countries can pay (and will pay) more money for the weapons integration of Typhoon.

Your state in your example that each country as their own weapons
    ASRAAM-IRIS-T
    Taurus-Storm shadow
That’s not exactly the cheapest way to do it.

Surely it is not the cheapest way, but a very favorable way for any export customer, as the customer will be able to pick from a wide range of weapons.

Just imagine, ALARM; HARM; TAURUS; Storm Shadow, HARM, Kormoran II, Harpoon, Penguin (possible if Norway buys EF), JDAM, LGB, Brimstone, Maverik, recce pod, this free fall bomblet dispenser DWS-39 (?), …

In the end Rafale won´t match this large choice.

And with at least 2 partner nations jumping on the JSF train, we can be sure that all goodies developed for JSF (SDB, ..) will be integrated into Typhoon as well. Furthermore the bristish are know to keep therre planes up-to-date and do many upgrades to them. France is not nearly as active as the UK in that field.

Typhoon was simply not ready for Korea. With every week and every motnh it will close the gap to Rafale and in the end it will be ahead. Tranche 2 will make T

I tell you why I demand a better conduct of the US Army – or any professionell army for that matter.

    1. They are a professional army. They are not using conscripts. I would expect that professionals are well trained and equipped to do their job – and to do it the right way. The correct way to handle prisoners should be trained.

    2. If is really happening on a larger scale, then the non-coms and comissioned officers have clearly failed. You should expect that the army has guidelines enforced that would keep such things from happening.

    3. If you are invading a country to free the people, it is a bad move to torture people while doing so. Furthermore they should have expected to be forced to handle prisoners. They should have trained people before going to Iraq.

For me the US Army can´t be compared to a conscript army fighting for the freedom of theri country, or an army dedicated to keep an evil dictator in power.

If they would have shot some one directly after a fight, because he killed some fellow soldiers and it was directly after the battle. I would say that this is human and something that can happen to everyone. But here we are looking at some little sadistic perverts that enjoy there power over the captives. It is a disgrace that the officers did cover such things.

I did say it before and I say it again. Iraq will be a second Vietnam.

That is only partly true. We are talking about the US Army, the main power of freedom and democracy. The army that went inot Iraq to bring peace, freedom and a better life to the people of Iraq. The army sent by politcians, because Saddam was breaking human rights.

This army is now turning out to be not better then any of Saddam´s thugs.

If regular soldiers are behaving that way, I really don´t wanna know how other agencies and private contractors are working their prisoners.

Exactly, it will cost a fortune to integrate all weapons on Typhoon. But integrating the same weapons on Rafale will also cost a fortune.
For Typhoon 4 nations will pay the integrations work. For Rafale one.

In the end Typhoon will be offering more weapons choices then Rafale to export customers, that is certain for me.

Mirage 2000D was made with AG in mind. 🙂
