That’s some scheme on the 737.
I like your first shot of the US Army Poky, tilted over a bit in the wind.
I can’t see these images either… only the smaller thumbnail version if I go to your album in photobucket. Clicking any gives the red X as if the link is wrong.
Hmmm. What was the Kuwait in for ? A one off ?
Hmmm, I see in their strive to be green JEDI has been converted to steam powered. Nice one.
Great shot there.
Nice ones! The Austrian is a cracker!
Love the yellow light on the Qatar !
Tenthije,
The 767 was from the south side which is definitely not walkable. It’s OK until about 10:30 – 11:00 after which the sun is not so good.
The other shots were on the ramp and these places are not shootable from the outside.
A good wee selection there. You wouldnae think it was France at the start with all that American tin. Are the landing shots at AMS on runway 06 ?
On the way back to Calais dropped in to Le Touquet Cote D’Opal International Airport! (The International bit is it’s daily flights to Lydd (Lydd Air Trislander) and SkySouth (Navajo Chieftain) to Shoreham, and is jumping with G- spam!!:
Well, have flown international from Lydd and into Le Touquet. Both different types and neither of them a Trislander.
I’ll take a guess and say it was fisherman’s charter, seeing as that’s what the GLA flights were at the time. Possibly a divert or he landed at the wrong airport…lol 😀
I remember hanging around GLA as a youngster and seeing all these odd looking East German trawlermen smoking cigarettes, and wondering if they were Russian spies..
Some of them no doubt were !! Ha. These were the days, when it was even DM- !!
Great selection of old shots there ! What were the Interflugs doing at EDI ? Was it charters for the DDR fishermen like the ones that used to come into Glasgow … or some other reason ?
Ren Frew,
You should go up on the roof of the BBC some day that they don’t have you here there and everywhere behind a camera. Should be good up there for shots of it landing. Or up the Science Centre tower. I haven’t been up there yet but if the windows aren’t too tinted it could be interesting.
Great report with some very nice photos. I like the coloured buildings of Murmansk. Must have been a good atmosphere.
That shot of the BA 747 has a great sky!
Not sure what might have been among the “Meat cuts of the butcher’s wife”
in that restaurant. Ha.
I was interested to read that Severomorsk is a closed town. I thought closed towns were a thing from the old days of the Soviet Union. Didn’t realise that they still exist. Oh well, you live and learn. I see the terminal at Murmansk still carries the title ГОРОД-ГЕРОЙ … Hero City.
Good work.
Very nice. Good lighting conditions. The Air Southwest and the Midland A319 are spot on!
Tenthije, the problem with the PK A310s has been resolved. The Glasgow flights have started back again a few months ago.
Great selection there.
That duty free shop at Vilnius is doing a roaring trade eh ? Ha.
Wannabe…. it’s actually a Fokker 70, so the wing is even closer to the engine. I remember similar views when flying in the little Finnair DC9-14s and 15s in the early 80s.
