Sicards .
Oh gawd, I could’ve gone another lifetime without hearing that & the blacktop psychosis that went hand in hand with them.
product designed for the damn things-
anyway, back to the Nimrod….
Gutted I missed it WingCo:(
XV232 appears in the old mans log book as one of his rides on the OCU in May 1971.
Taken back in the day, gear up…

Same one a bit later in the evening

Security pass from the SAC Bombimg & Nav exercise held in Dec 1971, which my father participated as AEOP in XV252

Sorry to see the Nimrod go, especially with St Mawgans major part in Nimrod history pretty much overlooked, anyone who brought the Airfix Nimrod will know what I mean, Kinloss this & Kinloss that, with a small reference made to St Mawgan with the wrong Sqn number on the instruction sheet.
Remember well the far from strategic move of the MPA fleet over the boarder, guess it totalled up a few votes in those parts.
Hey Pagan, log book scans welcome on this thread along with other memorabilia? 😉
WL795 at St Mawgan is an MR2.
Well, sort of, officially 795 is still an AEW2, as mentioned before, 795 has the full length MR2 bomb doors retro fitted & some maritime bits & bobs retro fitted to return it’s appearance to a previous period as an MR2.
Ben, just paint it up like a Lancaster, people will throw money at it!
Baz you nutcase!
Pity the old man isn’t about any more, he would’ve been impressed with your Dams raid Shack:D
Not sure if I’ve done this particular pic to death yet, but just in case- an MR3/3 of 42 sqn in full flight.

(a flying MK2 would be acceptable too, make it happen young man:cool:)
You might have to speak to MJR or P.Mills about that wish!!
I did when I visited last year:D
No dice I’m afraid, but good to see one gets run up every now & then, my dads old 3/3 there is a non-runner unfortunately.
Yep, willing to donate, providing it’s an MR3/3 with the Viper package 😉
Not dissing the MK2 though, fine machine, it’s just I drive past one everyday:p
Nice display of stuff, Corgi model looks the biz too:cool:
Epic Corsair win:cool:
Well said James, Dave was a top bloke & great pilot, seem to recall him being the Nimrod display pilot for a season or two.
A great loss to all.
I think this problem will remain for a long time
Well, for as long as there’s the wiff of oil about the place at least;)
5. Wasps
Not sure they’re that struck on you either Baz, after your wasp final solution 😉
