Not forgetting he did a shed load more hours on tin Wellingtons, Varsitys & Valettas post war 😀
Ah missed this (Thanks Pagey) yeah, Dad flew one raid to Essen from the OTU at Morten in The Marsh, before ferrying a Wellington to Cairo then going on to join 36Sqn in India, ultimatley ending up back in North Africa at Blida. Afterwards he was an instructor in Palestine before being demobbed.
If you need more info etc fire me a PM.
Devastating news, met him a short while back, a real enthusiast & gentleman, a sad loss to all that knew him & the whole aircraft preservation scene.
RIP

On reading this thread the pics from ATC St Mawgan sprung to mind immediately Pagey 😎
^That’s gold right there^ 😀
The comments can often be far more entertaining than the “news” articles
On the Airport side of the wire is what I was getting at 😉
Well, there’s always that outfit on St Mawgan. Not that they will probably be aware of the project.
Moggy
Well, NCA, no such outfit on St Mawgan Moggy 😉
I am told that there is a local Cornish beer called ‘Doom’. This would seem to be appropriate under these conditions.
Indeed, one of the finest. 😎 In fact going out in moment to toast this ambitious venture with a pint of that very product.
One possible snag… some of the residents of the near by village appear to dislike any activity at the airfield which is remotely connected with aviation (allegedly 😉 )
So might be a spot of bother with the planning permission.
edit:
Burmese Spitfires arrive at St Mawgan
yep, hangar swept, forklift standing by……but not with the engine running 😉
