I was at Legends in 2008 ,my one and only time. That picture brings back memories of a great day never thought i would see 3 B-17 together.Pity one is gone ,one is grounded and the other has an uncertanin future like so many these days. Luckily i got to see Liberty Belle twice once at Dux and once in Kissimee in March 2004 in her final stages of assembly.Having seen Pink Lady in 2008 and Sally B since 1975 i need to goto the good ol USA to see the rest.

BTW many thanks for all the posts on the 2012 thread couldn,t post before it got closed.

You mean something like the youtube links now Imagen a missing man B17 formation over Duxford at Legends 😮

Who else remembers pre 2004 Legends & Duxford shows where music of the 1940 type was played through the PA system from around 9 or 10am something that i think has been missing recently. I also seem to remember about 95 or 97 that there was a big band in one of the hangers playing ???? anyone remember

Seems that way Pink Lady grounded, Liberty Bell no longer with us B25 Grumpy in the states, A26 and B25 Sarinah i have no idear if we will see them again but i think they are still operational so that just leaves Sally B.

Would be good to see a few of the B17’s get together and fly across the pond commemorating some of the events in the next few years that made the 8th USAAF what it is rememberd for her in East Anglia. Just a pipe dream !!

Going back to 2008 Charlie this was the other end of the ramp i couldnt get back far enough to get all in one shot. But what a ramp 3 x B17, 2 x B25, 1 x A26 there was also 2 x DC3’s ther that year to i really don’t think we will see anything similar at legends again but im open to be persuaded differently :dev2: :diablo:

Thank you – wish I had been there – I missed 3 or 4 years that decade! And that must nearly have been Pink Lady’s last appearance before grounding….

I Charlie have this from 2009 showing Pink Lady so im guessing that 09 was the last visit. 🙁

Which year were the B17s lined up on the ramp?

2008 that year there was a mouth watering expectation of 3 B17’s in the air together, Liberty Bell flew over from the states, Pink Lady came from France and resident Sally B. lined up on the same ramp if i remember were 2 B25 Mitchells and the then A26 Invader from the Scandinavian Historic Flight. Sadley Sally B was grounded with engine problems that year.

DCW that last picture has to be a classic truly inspiring especially as this year was the 70th anniversary of the USAAF arrival in east anglia.

I Joined this forum because its better than another i was with, who’s posters were more interested in criticizing posts than reading their comments, spell checks only work if you know you have spelled a word wrong.

was that the Battle of Britain show at Duxford in 2010 ? Probably one of the best Duxford shows i have been to for a long time. Certainly and its only my opinion their hasn’t been much to beat it since.
