Oh my god the thread is still going…If things were bad then, just think of all the wars put together.
Yep,where,s my glasses..
It is one of the things I have asked to be changed.
Just some more screenies from one of my designers. It is all done voluntarily and on the guys free time.We are missing a fair bit of the vertical fin assembly as well.:(
Cheers Tom
Thanks for your support mate.We have been an industrious lot these last couple of months.Have sent some more pics to our webmaster to go up so an update is imminent.Trying not to have too many fingers in too many pots.Really focusing on the forward fuse at the moment, the hatsection rollers are giving me a bit of grief but will battle on.Also started on the bottom forward longerons. Will try be more vigilant with the updates.Cheers..:o
Not a local mod is it?I initially thought some type of screen, maybe a cover for sunlight protection..
Yes there are about 3000 Spit drawings available but nowhere near complete. You have to do a lot of study and engineering to get something out of them.
Wasn,t there a MkIX done as a Floatie as well?I heard the results were they were a bit wallowy on the sea but performed Ok in the air considering the drag.If you were to build one I wouldn,t touch an original airframe but build a repro or replica instead.Nice thought.
Look like early Spit wheels to me..Good find.
Noticed!!
Very tidy now.Thanks webby.:)
Oooeerrr..Nice clothes line Mk12. 🙂
A shed down south a bit using P40 engine beareres for shed trusses,Merlin and Allison rocker covers used as feed trays for various farm animals.Same with Slipper tanks after you remove the top.Wheels and tires to Hay carts down the Toowoomba range (no he won,t let them go),Boomerang frames to repair windmills,P40 oleos onto Headers or Baling presses, seats onto tractors and stock cars and wings for farm gates.
Shape doesn,t ring a bell to me.Probably scoured then polished somehow then painted. Can anyone research the Signatures though? If from England the proof would point to 54,547,548 Squadrons.Nice painting though..
Depends where they were in the production line and where they drew their orders from. They ran productions of two or three Spit types side by side so I guess they allocated batches to either High or low.Someone with more knowledge than me can chime in…
Re Paul
QLD Spitty, are you on Commonwealth land? The tank museum at Puckapunyal has an impressive array of real weapons on display so it shouldn’t be any different for you.
Hi Paul,
Yep the museum is on an active Military base but well away from the secure zone where the Armies “toys” are. There is another military museum here in town and it contains a fair amount of deactivated WW1,WW2 and later arms.Strange world we live in.

Well said to Tony and to SeaFury..:D Couldn,t have said it better. As long as someone is still around to do what we do then a rich future for the movement will be.;)
Feel your pain mate.
At our museum (an Army Aviation Museum) we aren,t even allowed to display real guns, deactivated or not.A lot of guys I know are making aluminium replicas that look the same and feel the same for their projects.
