Cheers Mk12.Was that the one that was flown back to the states..Good story behind it and a doco around about it somewhere.
Lol
😀 😉 Cheers mate.
Hmmm
Take a number and wait in line old boy…The tribes women folk need some new knives to cut up some game the guys have caught..Honestly I really want to wait to see if the bloody thing fits first before I do any more.. 😮
Ahhh rgr that forgot about the redefinition of the interior frames…We are still coming to grips with the what pressing drawings to use to make a MkV.So what would the other frame 11 be called now??(Yeah ,yeah I know..Frame 11)
Working under the palm trees
I very much hope that Australia soon manages to emerge from its third world status and is able to stand, shoulder to shoulder, with such giants on the international stage as PNG!
..Ok while I was having a break from making cooking utensils for the tribe and sharpening spearheads have been making this sort of stuff
😉 😀
Nice metalwork MkV..Frame 11 always looks impressive on it,s own..With the paint job,is that to make sure the American AAA gunners “not fire at it” or the opposite??
Being an ex QANTAS sheety I can agree it all depends where the crack is.There are repair schedules in place to tell you where and where not to stop drill cracks. As long as the hole is deburred and not in a structural member things should be Ok.
Geez do you think it,s american???Very noticable paint job..Cheers Mk12 and congrats to the guys involved in getting her in the air.
It turns a flwheel which engages the engine with a clutch when the starter is pushed I think.
Plus a lot of the general parts would be generic with a lot of other British aircaft of the day.Get a good team together and measure everything on it,take thousands of pics of every part in detail, get the latest 3d software and start designing.
Nothing is impossible these days.
Hmm know a couple of warbirds that started without drawings and are flying today.Matt Dennings ex Boomerang for one.
It would have only taken two to three 20mm rounds to strike near frame 19 for the Spits complete tail to come off.Was Bader at the critical point at where Bucks cannons were synchronised. He would have heard two or three bangs as the rounds hit.Speculation anyone??Theories??Where are Adam and Jamie off Mythbusters when you need them.
Wow thanks for the pics.Keep going mate,it will be a long slow haul but you will get there..Get the workshop setup right and start swinging hammers.Believe me we started our project with much, much less and each small part built gives you motivation to keep on going..Good hunting mate. For BFP,s here in Auss I think Graham Smith down in SA is going to start up a run.
Dang that is a sign of a good pilot…
Last time I heard a Merlin was at Aerotechs Anniversary of Flight show a few years ago when Snifter came down and flew with Lynetts Fiat.To sweeten it Matt was there with the Boomer and a Yak 9 was in attendence as well as a few others.Last I heard the sweet whistle of the Boomer was 12 months ago at our new Museum opening..Soon after that Matt took the Boomer down for the Southerners to enjoy. And as they say the rest is history.Next month flying days our project manager will be down there spreading the good word so you might be able to catch up with him:) ..lucky bast@rd he is….
