Actually I have not been involved with her for a couple of years Phil.A move and disagreements with management had caused me to move on.From a volunteer there that it is still alive, just being moved on from the Museum.
Years of speculation about his fate came to an end in 2002, when his remains were found in the cockpit of his plane, buried about 2 m (6 ft 7 in) deep in a field near the Bavarian village of Egling an der Paar, 34 miles west of Munich. According to witnesses, the aircraft fell there on 12 April 1944, around 11:45. One of the propellers had bullet holes in it, which suggests that Warburton had been shot down. Parts of the wreck can be seen today in the Malta Aviation Museum.[12]

This help?
and because it is marine best practice, the bolt was stainless steel
LOL from dipping my toe in the Marine industry I do know from the fact Stainless steel isnt fully stainless and does corrode due to electrolytic conditions..Especially in waste water tanks..
Amen to that, Trolly Aux!
What a pity there are still so many to denigrate efforts to re-create these Spitfires, or the means by which that is now usually achieved.
From one who tried hard to reproduce one from scratch any Spitfire is an achievement. As is any plane that that is built or rebuilt to high specifications..Its not about what we do now its laying the groundwork for the future generations to continue our work.
Room for Replicas?
My 3D printed replica Sopwith Camel grip was a good way to practice my French Whipping 🙂
